Anyway back on topic.

Argie papers are saying that Gago's meeting with Valdano, with his pleas of depression, stress, mercy, dreams etc resulted in Valdano telling him if he wanted to go to (broke) Boca it would cost him a lot of his own money, and more if he came back to Europe, as Real aren't prepared to subsidise him.

Much more attractive is the - alleged - 15 million euro offer from City. But Real want the 20 they paid.

Personally I'm not too sure City have any involvement at all, but we'll see.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are intent on spurning the attentions of Manchester City and keeping defensive midfielder Fernando Gago .

It was understood that Manchester City had bid around 15 million euros for the Argentine player. According to Spanish media reports, Gago and his agent Marcelo Lambilla met yesterday with Real's sporting director Jorge Valdano to discuss his future.

It was reportedly made clear at the meeting that Real Madird are unwilling to let Gago leave unless they receive a "dizzying" offer.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported a Real Madrid source as saying, "In no case shall Gago be given to any club in the world. There are currently no offers and, unless we receive an offer dizzying, he will continue at Real Madrid …we cannot weaken our squad at such an important part of the campaign. "

Gago has made just seven appearances for Real Madrid this season, he joined from Boca Juniors in 2007 for 20.5 million euros. AS a result he is desperate to leave in order to secure playing time to boost his selection chances for this summer's World Cup.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini had been keen to bring Gago to Eastlands, making him his second signing since becoming manager at City.

To the tune of lady gaga's bad romance.

Ah this boy his lyrical potential already... he just needs better writers... ahem.

they want 17 million quit according to "SPORTSMAIL REPORTER" (i.e. not true if one of their own won't put their name on it) which they argue is what they paid for him plus 2 years world class coaching at Real.
Not sure about 17 million, then, we have the readies, we're already demonsised in the press/world football for spending ridiculous amounts of average players, why not another? I have a gut feeling he'll be a success here

Today's Gago bollox, from AS.

His agent reckons that 'his situation will change this week'. Real will only let him go for 20 million euros, but City have allegedly offered 15. 'The matter isn't closed' said his agent. We want to speak with Valdano again and maybe the situation will change.

Pellegrini doesn't really want to lose him, but Real are worried that his state of mind might negatively affect the team.

Personally I reckon if he's another 'emo' then we should stay well clear!
