Doom-tinted glasses are off -- honest -- but I think Villa are in pole position for 5th.

Visions of this shower, now with less motivation!

I'm happy.

I set my pre-season target as 7th minimum, we've actually made 6th minimum. Granted, Hughes' sacking changed the game for me. To this day, I'm pissed off about that, but I try to move on and see where it gets me. I do believe Hughes was THE man for us, if he was given 3 years. But the game changed, and we got Mancini. Because of the sacking for somebody the club believe to be better, and although I thought his track record was dubious under the circumstances, it would still have been knobbish to have disregarded what he has achieved. So the Mancini signing upped my ideas a bit, and thought 5th minimum. Not because I thought he'd do well, just because the club think they've sacked somebody for better. So by their logic, I raised my own target.

But even if we finish 6th, I'm happy with what the players have done this season. There've been a lot of disruptions to our starting XI and thrown in with the mid-season management change, there was even more scope for a full wobble. But credit to every one of them, even the permanently crocked Roque, they've tried to put a shift in and it would be very very unfair to criticise any of them as mercenaries. They've got us competing for top 4, there's been a remarkable improvement on talent and we've all got hope again. When was the last time we could justify having those feelings pre-season?

Things are going to get better and better. The press will try to make out this is a disaster, but look at it for what it is; we've got our highest everything post-Reid, we're competing on the market with the biggest clubs in the world, we've also achieved European qualification through the league position for the first time in how long? Certainly in my time.

We were unlucky tonight. Simple as. It went Tottenham's way. The only thing to be angry about in this whole thing is the fact that dirty cunt of a manager of theirs is getting the gig and not us. But that's only down to my own personal hatred of Dirty Harry.

Anyway, buck up. Things are getting better. If Mancini is given the time and money this Summer to do something, we're going to have another interesting season. Keep the faith.

Just spotted that i joined this forum exactly two years ago, whilst sven was still manager.

A lot's changed since then. Apart from one thing - city still fail to deliver.

It's the hope that hurts.

Opportunity missed for me. If Liverpool get the right manager and with Spurs getting the CL money as well as a new Stadium on the way both team will only improve.

Our current manager promised 4th, Our board sacked a manager because he didn’t look like delivering 4th. So 5th isn’t good enough.

I don't think he got to play much of a part at all chief.

You also said I was a fucking idiot for betting that we'd win the premier league before Liverpool. And that it would could take ten years before we'd go for the league.

Lets shake on it ...

A) I was laughing at the banter, not at you.

B) re read what I said in that topic.

Yes.

Target for me was 5th spot with good push for 4th. We achieved that. I don't change targets easily during the season as it was based on estimation what we'll be able to do with the players we have got if everything goes according to plan.

Gutted about yesterdays result but overall happy with the season.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Jose got slated in the press for his "do what you have to" approach against barca. I wonder if the backhand the twitch will, or will he be a footballing genius. Anyway as it came so close i`m gutted but also feel like a munich if i look like a spoilt twat as 5th is an acheivement to most who haven`t done it for years...Just can`t win as a blue on or off the field.

I will settle for 5th definately, or even 6th. We are in the Europa. but we need to strengthen our squad desperately.

we will nothing unless we get rid of this losing big game mentality!!! the fans did their bit last night only to be dropped yet again from a dizzy height, players gobbing off before big games need to shut the fuck up and do their talking on the pitch.
we lose so many games before we have even walked onto the pitch, in that dressing before a game we should be so fired up that players will be so hyped up that they are banging on the door to be let loose!!!
adebayor is one lazy fucker cant stand the guy!!
bridge is shite cant tackle cant cross a ball and basically a weak link in a weak defence....
de jong great tackler but his shooting is abysmal ( he aint scored a goal all season!!)

Its difficult to celebrate anything today - I think the poll would look very different after a win at wet spam

But all in all - we have moved forward this year - perhaps not the mighty leap we all dreat of, but still a huge step in my books

Give us a couple of years with the same manager building a squad and the future looks rosier than for any other team in the prem

Can't really say that I'm happy or unhappy with it to be honest, more numb today than anything else. Wondering where it leaves the manager, certain players and I hate feeling this uncertainty yet again
