When was the last time that we have a central midfielder that could get you 20-25 goals a season.......never. What was the goal outlet from our central midfield this season?? Less than 5? Teams that have that driving force from the center, U***d have Scholes, Chelsea have Lampard, Arsenal have Fabrgras and Pool have Gerrard tend to win tropies or at least qualify for the Champs league.
Like i said i dont feel we have a chance to sign him but for people to say that they wouldnt or he is not good enough do make me LOL.....

He will be 30 before he kicks a ball for us.
Spent the last 2 seasons being dogged by injury or playing injured.
A Liverpool fan and player, never put in the same level of performance and desire no matter where he goes.
Got 9 goals this season, and 2 were penalties.
Scholes is 35, Lampard would suffer from the same syndrome as Gerrard, yes to Fabregas though.
He will cost a ludicrous amount and I consider it at this stage to not only important to win, but to make sure other teams lose.
With Gerrard they failed to make the Champion's League, they have never won the league with him no matter how good the squad was.
Mancini has already stated he will be buying younger players to build a team for the next decade, a policy I agree with wholeheartedly.
Finally he would have to change into our 4-4-2 system where Tevez would be occupying the same space as him, making the same movement as him and suffer the same drop in form as Ireland has trying to cope with the same system.
And while I said finally and lied, SoF, fuck you, you think because you play a bit of women's football you have this godlike footballing knowledge, just because we don't want a player may have numerous other reasons other than ability and just cause you didn't think they were important to mention...or maybe not think of, doesn't mean the rest of us missed it. I believe we very much need a forward thinking midfielder, but I think we need OURS.

I think Gerrard is at his best when he plays just behind Torres, as something in between an offensive midfielder and a second striker. In a conventional 4-4-2 he drops too far back the pitch. Could Tevez be taught to not drop deep to collect the ball, it is a partnership I could see work. However, I do agree with you other sentiments. I don't want us buying Gerrard either. I thin his best years are behind him and I don't want to give scouse1 a cash injection.

Based on that, would anyone have Ballack and Stevie G as a midfield pair for a couple of years. Ballack looks like he still has the legs for a year or two

def take ballack, him and arteta/gerrard would be a real coup but cant help but thinking all these players are beyond us...
