Some people are assuming Harry buys players to do a particular job but imo he rarely does that unless it's to change one for one. I mean he was trying to sign Babel too. Where the fuck would he play?

Harry likes signing/selling players, (for various reasons). He's explained the reason why he signed VDV; it was to good an opportunity to miss. There's no special planning behind it, Harry saw a possible bargain & bought him. Now he'll try to find a way of fitting him in. If we'd offered Harry; Bridge or Given or SWP or Lescott or Ade he'd take any of them if the price was right, whatever the position. Then he'd sell almost anyone to fund it. He said himself he almost sold Bale to Hughes last summer. He would have sold Crouch in Jan, if the right offer came in, you can bet on it.

If it fucks up the balance of Spurs' side, it will be the chairman's fault for not spending enough money & making him buy 2nd raters. If it works really well it'll be genius by Harry.

Reckon Jenas and Bentley will be out the door in January, surprised they aren't already. O'Hara is a long term injury. Kranjcar, Huddlestone will be rotated in, same as Bale, Sandro and dos santos who are still quite young to boot but yeah I see your point they've a few too many players hanging around.

Was thinking they could go 4-5-1 and drop a striker but then it'd be the same problem when you've got Keane, Defoe, Pav and Crouch as well. Wonder if they can fit them all in their 25 actually.

I know Inter Milan are cursing their luck they got landed with that liability Sneijder. Likewise Bayern with Robben.

I wouldn't take it as a slight to vdv that he's being sold. They've got Kaka, Gago, Ronaldo, Ozil and Di Maria who can play in an already very specialist attacking midfield position. He really is a great player, too technical for the premiership? maybe but no denying him and modric in the same midfield is pretty exciting.

Its a bit like football manager really. You win the league, have a perfectly settled side and then you notice Iniesta is unhappy at Barca and they'll accept bids for him. You don't know where he'll play but fuck that shit it's iniesta!
Then you sign him other players get unhappy at the competition, he gets unhappy because your team doesn't play the way he likes to play, being unsettled leads to bad results and your sacked by october. =(

I dont understand how a transfer can go through after the deadline..... I know we kinda did it with Robinho, and we did it with Benjani (althought dont forget, that deal also involved the twitcher).

Why people are asking why Spurs want VdV is like other clubs asking why we wanted Milner, and the answer is to give them a better squad. People seem to think we are the only ones who want to build a suqd of talented players and get our project on the road, but the truth is Spurs are well ahead of us with regard to both. Remember back in around 2006 when they signed that bloke as DoF, and then he started bringing in players such as Darren Bent? Well, that seemed to be the start of their project and although the DoF was out on his ear with Ramos, they still have a similar sort of system to us - if a quality player is available, then they'll be interested, especially at a decent price. Combine their playing squad, current position in CL and with new stadium on the way, you could actually say we are trying to emulate them, but just on a grander scale.

I disagree. We needed Milner, a versatile player who could get forward when playing in the middle (unlike barry and de jong) and also when wide can cross (unlike swp) however i don't understand how VdV is different to modric or krankjar.

What you disagreeing with mate, I didn't say Milner wasn't needed, I simply said that other clubs asked the question.

Yeh Ted's post about Harry's stupid transfer policy is correct, just shows how much of a knob redknapp is!
As for milner my point was that we needed a player like him not just to improve the squad but to add something that we didn't already have.
