The aim is to break into top four. Anything else is bonus. That has been made very clear.

No mate, your statement is ridiculous. The aim should be to get as high in the table as possible, that includes 1st. Anything else is below that is a disapointment in varying degrees.

Yours is a very defeatist statement which should be now exiled from our vocabulary.

to be honest 'our aim' changes every week depending on the result. we beat chelsea, mancini said we would try to win the title. we lost to wolves, it's trying to break the top 4. he's a table chameleon!

It's incredible, isn't it? When Roy Hodgson took over at Fulham, the team were in complete disarray. He plugged the holes and set about building a team from a solid defensive platform. Having achieved this, he consolidated a team of relegation fodder into a secure premier league side whilst punching above their weight all the way to the Europa Cup final.

This was seen by virtually everyone looking on as manegerial proffessionalism and Hodgsons stock rose to the point where he was even appointed to the Liverpool job.

Mancini does the same (albeit with more expensive players at the top end of the league) and he's seen as an Italian negative vibe merchant who should just fuck off.

So did hodgson win the league with his solid defense then?

Mancini did it in Italy. 3 times.

So thats a no then. You can't win without scoring.

Italian league is a corrupt pisstake joke of a league. It's not the premiership. If you put us/spurs/scum/arsenal/chelsea and probably even liverpool in the italian league they would win it.

You don't seriously believe that.

Swap our entire 25 man squad with chelsea, arse, rags or spurs and they would win the league comfortably.

Keep them at City and I think we'll do well to hang onto 4th.

I'm not talking Mancini mate, I'm talking about us the supporter; this thread is 'What we think'.

So are you suggesting that it is just a name change that we need? or a total management overhaul? or is it some kind of massively deep pit of gloom that 60% of City supporters live in that somehow effects the universe and all that happens in it ?

Anyone so fickle that they need to review their choice?

I'm not going to change my opinion on one game, however, if we can continue to play with that freedom and pace of passing, I might.

I've only been able to listen, but it sounded like the sort of football we've all thought the players were capable of. Let's hope it continues, cos nothing would make me happier than to admit I'm wrong

:-)

Any team 3 points off the top spot towards the end of November with the a strong strength in depth should be aiming for the title.

According to SKY, the leaders at this stage of the season haven't had as low points total for 13 years. That to me represents a golden opportunity.

It's true mate, and going down the list as well. I did a comparison table and worked out what the projected finishing total's would be and they were all down on last season. The predicted highest was 77 points which is 9 points down on last season.

First half today, City looked like a bunch of champions. The possession, passing and eventual unlocking of the defence was quite exquisite. I was fuckin mesmarised.

If they played every half like that, they'd win the league without a doubt.

More than 3 players getting into the box and creating lots of chances throughout 90mins.
Defenders defending well and keeping clean sheets (and in possession of a very, very lucky goalkeeper).
Manager starting to select a settled team.
3 points off the top of the league in December.

I'm starting to believe :-)

We've got the players, we've got the means, we're getting the mentality. All we need now is the consistency, which we are beginning to show.

I'm going for Arsenal to win the league this season, with us running them close - I hope!
