For me, the most accesible target for now, and without much negociacion is Suarez, (backup Forlan) and then try for Dzeko, Torres or Eto`o. I think Suarez will be something like "the one i will never pronounce again who is homesick" and we really need him. He had a great World Cup.

I'm afraid if we sign Suarez I will have no option but to go on the pitch & beat the living shit out of him. Sorry but it's just how it is.

The goal Big Phil scored last week was a cracker. The lad knows where the onion bag is especially from about 15/20 yards out.

Same here (even though I'll have to book a plane first and get somewhere to sleep in Manchester)

As I said before if we could slip Pavlyuchenko under 'Arry's nose I'd be really glad.

Plus for Dzeko: he'd be eligible to play in the EL as well if I remember correctly

The uruguayn can do things here. Of course i want Torres, Dzeko or other big name, but let`s be onest for a minute and think about it, If it was the summer break maybe, but now is unlikely to come because most of them are in campaigns with their clubs and will like to continue there. Remember last winter ? We were expecting great names, but only Adam came ( Vieira doesn`t count) and we need fast forwards, that will fit us,

Forgot about him. Don`t know his form, but yes, he is a good suggestion, but i think whiskey face Bruce will ask a lot of money for him, at least 15 mil.

Beat me to it LAHAD, good suggestion. To keep this season on track we need someone who can guarantee goals, knows the league well and could slot in straight away. I would say that Bent plus a big name (Torres or Dzeko would be my preference) plus the wild card Balotelli wouldn't be too bad at all.

We might even be able to offload RSC to the Elephant man as part of the deal.

No love for the World Cup's Golden Ball winner?

He'd be my first choice.

Though I don't follow World football that closely anymore, I sometimes think that clubs and fans have a fatal attraction to the big names. Not always successfully.

Veron and Forlan spring to mind at the swamp, and anyone remember world beaters Poborsky, Cruyff and the kidnapped Berbaplop? I can't say I'm that impressed with that other huge name at the swamp either...Shrek. His form has not given the rags much return on this years investement.
Our dip into the big name market over the years has been extremely underwhelming too..Deyna? Weah? And our talismantic (I think I just made that word up) investements in Robinho and Tevez have not been the mega successes that we would have liked. Even Anelka wanted away and let us down and Adebayour can't even make our bench.

I don't care if we pay mega millions or 2/6p (ask Gillie what that is) as long as he can score, considers the club are bigger than him, wants to be a team player and is dedicated to the City cause.

Honestly...there are only a few options here...and it's RM and Barca...which players could we prise from them? For me, it's a no brainer...and it's Barca we want to work with.

Hand me Pedro, Dani Alves and Jeffren and i'm listening to the conversation and getting my wallet out to help a bit with yr cash crunch. And yeah talk about Villa all you want but he isn't coming, so be realistic.

cheers

EDIT: Just to be clear...no one is going to BUY Tevez...we could certainly go buy one of the strikers in this poll, and maybe we will as well, but i think the striker situation is tied to Tevez and few can play ball with us.

cheers again

i think tevez would be a bust at barca. he is too selfish.
i believe it's the same reason he wasn't as spectacular at stretford as he has been here.
the barca and united systems require unselfish players in the final third (even further back for barca).
i think tevez would choke the fantastic interplay in barca's midfield, and frustrate the hell out of that team.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

The way I see it, there are only few big names we could go after.

Drogba - great, for sure, but he's getting old and we would be presented with the same problem again in a couple seasons
Eto'o - difficult to get, and he's not getting younger either
Rooney - do I even have the guts to say his name here?
Torres - League proven, but always injured
Dzeko, Higuain, Aguero, Benzema, Ibrahimovic - all overrated or unproven in the league, they would be a massive gamble
Villa - just moved to Barca, he's not leaving them

So, we either take a gamble on Dzeko, Benzema, Ibrahimovic or on Torres hoping he stays fit. On the other hand, our scouting system may have found some young talents to bring in and develop into the next big name, but that requires time and patience, something we can't afford right now.

Personally, I'd like us to go for Anelka and Dzeko.

Or Drogba and Aguero
