Not strictly speaking the coldest, but went to a game at Coventry's Highfield Road where it was so foggy we couldn't see any of the action in the 18 yard box at the other end of the ground.

Years later, I met a bloke who'd been in the home end. He said that he couldn't see us all game, making the noise generated by the away really eerie and odd.

Coventry didn't sing more than the odd song.

I remember a Droylsden FA Cup game that had over 30 mins of injury time on a November evening. Had the flu for weeks afterwards.

That Oldham game a few years ago was cold, but like Fish says it was pissing down all game. They didnt have a roof, and the wind was blowing, when I got home from that I thought I had trench foot.

I didnt feel as cold as I thought last night (thought the Strasbourg game was colder), mind you I looked like the friggin michelin man with all the gear I had on.

Absolutely. It was minus 8 at kick off and having just come from an Australian summer the week before it meant a 45 degree difference for me. The body didn't enjoy that!

I remember two games that i was freezing. The first one was City away at Wolves last year, i couldn`t feel my legs for a while.
The other one was in 2005, a Uefa Cup game : Steaua - Villareal, a fucking mess.

Aalborg was pretty chilly and so was the Wolves home game in Kev's promotion season.

But pride of place goes to the 8-1 @ bro'. Shorts are a no no in smog land at any time of the year.

Watford away under John Bond. So cold I had four coats and me long johns on. Took a nice flask of steamin vegetable soupThe youth as was the custom in those impecunious days travelled in a cotton shirt and a pair of flairs. Half time I took pity on some miserable shivering waif and offered him a cup of soup which he hungrily poured down his freezing throat only to hoik it back up screamin"feckin hell, mate, what kind of coffee do you call that?!?"Lol, such is life. How often the lumpen proletariat resist our well meaning blandishments.

Charlton away at Selhurst Park in, oh, it must have been 1989. Mel Machin's last game. It got down to about minus 7 or 8 that afternoon, clear and cold with the wind blowing right into our faces. I was in the seats as well which was unusual for me in those days (used to go in the Kippax) and I suppose that was the main reason I was so cold. Funnily enough I had the sun in my eyes half the match but there was certainly no warmth coming from the bloody thing. Clive Allen equalised with a neat finish but the point was not enough to save El Mel from the axeman Swales.

I wonder where Mel Machin is now. I liked him. Merry Christmas, Mel, wherever you are and thanks for the 5-1.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

The Everton match on Monday night wins that award for me

The wettest is definitely a cup match against Ipswich at Maine Road. I remember trying to find cover at the back of the Kippax as the rain came down horizontal. The pitch had standing water all over, we went a goal down, equalised and then I'm sure it got abandoned after about 25 minutes. I was literally soaked to the skin when I got back to my car and the drivers seat was damp for about a week after

Bury vs Peterborough about 2 weeks ago

City vs Wolves December 1999 (Robert Taylor's debut, we lost 4-1). Was sat right next to corner flag, and sky sports zoomed in on me and my mate who were so cold it looked like we were crying.

2004 New England Patriots at home to Tennesse Titans, temp was -15.5 C with a wind chill of -23 C. That was bastard cold and beer would freeze as soon as the bottle was opened, had to keep it in the car with the engine on to keep it "warm". Saying that though, watching Rochdale against Wigan at the old Springfield Park in the open end on a pissing down Tuesday night when the rain was sideways felt a damn site colder!
