i know what you mean but disagree slightly - he's got the touch and vision to be a very good link up man as well as a classic CF - but he needs support and time to adjust to the team, his partners, and the "system". i've seen him play a lot in the bundesliga and we've certainly not seen the best of him yet. imo.

Just because he is a biggish sort of guy...Why does everyone think he wants the ball delivered in the air?

Great to see AJ back last night n he was lookin good, now Dzeko will get some service as AJ can and will deliver it, he has been a massive miss, Milner also looked hungry when he came on, drop yaya n barry try NDJ n Milner in the middle with Silva n AJ wide n surprisingly this would allow us the luxury of two front men instead of Carlos having to do it all with no support, I call this system 4-4-2 and although "revolutionary" Bobby should give it a go the stupid fuckwit

You stole my thunder, I would've said it better though ;-)

He just needs time to adjust and showed in the little time he had, that he can do what we need from a CF. The support would've probably been there with 11 men and it not being so late in the match. For me, I can see him coming into his own during the run-in, as I'm pretty certain he'll now overtake Mario in the pecking order.

Yeah, very unfair of them John. I'm sick of these 'tallist' always misunderstanding the lad ;-)

That chest control, turn and volley looked special from where I was sat. Couldnt figure out how he'd done it without handballing it, but was really impressed that he tried it. What he could do with some confidence will be frightening.

With AJ, Milner and SWP all now fit, hopefully he will get a run in a system that suits him. Surely Mancini didnt buy him to offer no service?

I really thought that one was going in honestly, it was sublime chest control and he got a lot of power on the shot too, shame it went right at the keeper though.

I am convinced Dzeko will come good especially once Tevez is gone, because Tevez really refuses to give him the ball it seems. With AJ back and Kolarov pinging them in from the other side I can see us play a different game next season.

Not always in the air John because he has got a superb first touch, but there's no doubt that one of his strongest points is getting his head on the end of crosses, something we've criminally failed to do on any sort of consistent basis since his arrival

The problem for Dzeko is, although we have a lot of talented players, we are completely disfunctional as an attacking unit. It's only because the individual players are so good that we sometimes produce great attacks. None of them except Silva & Tevez, play together naturally. Add to that the fact that we have no plan for crosses other than fullbacks (how many did AJ put in? He rarely succeeeds as a conventional winger.) & for someone like Dzeko who scores half of his goals from crosses, it must be a nightmare. We are as good as any team anywhere at getting into dangerous positions, then as it stands, we're fucked.

On GMR someone said to Fred Eyre that we're crying out for width. His answer was: " Mancini sees the width coming from fullbacks but the problem is; they are fullbacks so they don't have a trick to get past their man" Sums it up.

He also added that Kolarov was too slow to do that job anyway.

I mentioned this last night at the game. We have the widest pitch in the league yet most of the time we play within the confines of the centre. Barmy!

A simple head after a goalkeeping mistake, but his overall game was really good. It was refreshing to see the qualities we all know he has. I only wish he could look like the same player while playing for his club.
Roberto Mancini was the man who brought us our first trophy in 35 years. He was the man that brought us our first league title in 44 years. He brought us one of the greatest moments of our lives. He masterminded a 6-1 win at Old Trafford, and a Wembley win over United. He challenged Ferguson, he argued with him on the touchline, he brought success, and he punched the air in delight with the rest of us at the madness of it all. He had style, panache and a winning smile. All those memories he gave us will never be forgotten, in a wonderful period in this club’s long history.
And I swear, we’ll never see anything like it again.
