We conceded a screamer at Poznan too.

He is englands golden boy, white pele who has had a bad season as well as last year. The media will wank all over him because it shows signs he may be feeling confident again which means englands future great striker is back etc...

As a kid everybody dreams of winning a big game with a goal just like that, if rooney did that in the world cup final it would be classed as the best ever goal.

Simple fact is with all the money spent we dont have world class attacker apart from tevez. Look at the rags even giggs was causing all types of shit at 37, toure kept scholes quite but nani on the other wing with pace to burn, skill to match most full backs cant deal with him.

On our flanks we have barry and milner Fact.

Silva plays on the right but floats inside hence the reason giggs had so much possesion yesterday.

No doubt thats what he was trying to do, but the fact it came off was pure chance. So, yes I would say it was spectacular, and I would say it was brilliant, but to say he didn't get lucky is just being naive. It was brilliant in the same way as Niclas Jensen's goal against Leeds or dare I say it Danny Mills against Everton. If he tried that a hundred times it might come off once.

Of course he was lucky, and of course if he tries it other 100 times he probably won't score a single one...but it's still a brilliant goal, as much as it pains me to admit it. The fact that he was lucky doesn't make it any less brilliant, after all every great goal is in a sense a lucky one...a 30 yards screamer that gets right under the bar is lucky, the next time it will smash on the woodwork, or graze just over it, and it won't be a goal...but the one time it happens, it's brilliant. Same goes for most of the volleyed goals...try it again and you will hit the ball that fraction of second too early or too late, and the result won't be the same.

If Tevez had done it, we'd all be fapping like paedo's in a schoolyard over it, the phrase world class would be so worn out, people would have to replace the letters ACDLORSW on their keyboards and we'd be talking about the title.

I am not sure but I think the fact it came off his shin makes it more impressive, and yes he may have missed on any other day, but he didn't. We pick ourselves up, we spank Aris like a high-class hooker, maybe put some cigarettes out on her arm, make her gag, cough and splutter, if you're up for it maybe choker her a little, you know the sort of stuff and head back into the league next weekend.

It was a superb goal, all the more annoying that he was anonymous apart from it.

I imagine scoring a goal like that, and then hearing someone telling me it was lucky. I'd just have to laugh in their face.

Still, we played well, could have scored more, and can hold our heads high.

If only Vinny hadn't slipped, we wouldn't have been having this conversation.

True,

If only Zabs shoulder was wider too, the ball would have cannonballed somewhere else.

If only Rooney met the ball correctly just prior to the ball bouncing off his legs and falling perfectly to Scholes. His pass would have been shit for Scholes and not forced Scholes to go to the right.

Then again, if ony David Silva had scored when we were creating something, as oppose to the misstimed and misskicked passes that United made for the Shinpad goal !

Ted Hughes wrote:Whether it hit his shin or not is irrelevent, it was a fantastic goal which turned the game & possibly won them the title. If it went in off his shin, he still must have got his leg into the perfect position for the ball to hit the target whilst upside down & middled it like a cricketer hitting a straight drive. Hitting any part of the goal with any part of your body whilst upside down, in a possibly title deciding derby, is fucking brilliant.

Well put Ted. My thoughts exactly.

credit to him, it was a ballsy effort that 99 times out of 100 would have bombed into the stands, regardless of how good at football you are
