Excellent result for us, but if you thought Chelsea or Spurs were going to miss out at the big boy table, my first pick was not going to be Chelsea.

Be interesting to find out how Chelsea react if they suddenly find themselves adrift in 5th place, which is very possible in the next few weeks. I recon the wheels could come off against us. We MUST win our 2 home games to apply the pressure.

Then get Tevez chasing that Brazillian ponce down when we play them & see how cool he looks on the ball then. He had no difficult defending to do in the match yet went in for two tackles & both could have been pens. Wait til he meets the likes of Carroll & Crouch (& hopefully Dzeko) & a few crosses come in too. Talented possible future player, lovely footballer for a defender but the Prem is a difficult place to stick a young ponce at CB. Going to be fun once the wank fest dies down & the truth dawns on them.

When they showed where dipshit had put his last two penno's I knew he was gonna miss.

Why don't pro footballers know that uyou just pick a corner, and pass the ball into it?

Its not about making it look good, its about getting it in the bag.

Let us not forget what will happen if Chelsea win the CL, whilst coming 5th.

I thought that Luiz loooked a fucking good footballer last night - comfortable on the ball like Komps - would have liked to see them together - but we can not have everything

He was also awfully close to conceding Fulham two penalties much earlier in the game; he's definitely comfortable on the ball (if he doesn't get harassed, which other teams will do) but he showed a bit of reckless challenging into the box which could cost a goal, and maybe a game, to his team any day if he doesn't curb it.

This is great, the pressure is removed from City again. This morning they were still talking about Chelsea and winning the league on the Beeb. I mean they really have to get six points from the Rags. Given that they will shut up shop . I can see them both dropping four points with two draws.

We just need to quietly win our games over the next few weeks. Etch out boring wins if necessary.

Wigan took the game to Liverpool and I thought they were the better team on Saturday. WE can beat Wigan though.

However, if we win our next two games at home. The pressure will be maintained on Chelsea and Spurs. Who knows , Arsenal
and United can still slip up. It's not over yet.

Luiz may be a Brazilian ponce but I wish he was our Brazilian ponce. A terrific player who can only get better. He can play right across the back four because he is absolutely comfortable on either foot. He wasn't afraid to get stuck in either with a strong tackle or a headed challenge. United paid £30 million for Ferdinand all those years ago. Luiz has more potential in my view and is absolutely worth the money Chelsea paid for him. If Tevez is going to run at anybody it should be Terry who has no pace rather than Luiz who has got pace. In my view the Club made a serious error in not pursuing its interest in him.

Still we have Kolarov and Boateng and its right to give them both a proper chance before forming a definitive judgement on either. Hopefully they can both develop into strong Premiership players.

I think he was forced into mistakes by the speed of the game - he hasn't had much Prem time yet - if you remember what Silva and Yaya were like in their first few games I'd say Luiz was very impressive last night even with his forced errors (he got caught dwelling on the ball a couple of times because of this too - but managed to recover)

How come you quoted the race for fourth? Make no mistake, this was a big result for us.

Its funny how we are well out of the title race but the media say Chelsea are still in it. Madness. That must be them well out of it now.

I can see where they are coming from though. We have played United twice already now, Chelsea still have to play them twice (right?) which means they can theoretically take 6 points off them and close the gap to them significantly.

True, but then, even if one is their game in hand, the other would be in a day when we and Arsenal play too...so if we win that day we take three points off the gap just as well, and we are still ahead of Chelsea.

Chelsea carrying on playing like they are and they will get zip against the scum which part of me hopes for. Would hate to see Man U win the league again but would be happy with us finshing in the top 4 at the expense of Chelsea.

Yea it would definitely be the lesser of two evils. Plus if United win another League trophy and thus beat Liverpool's total tally it increases the chances of Baconface to call it day.

Luiz has got all the raw material to be a great player, but he hasn't put it all together yet & I think him & Torres could be catastrophic for Chelsea this season. Playing Torres cost Chelsea 2 points & Luiz should have cost them the other 1. If Tevez harrasses him, he'll fuck up & give the ball away like Paul Futcher, & the likes of Crouch & Carrol will fuck him up badly in the air. Just watch.

I personally agree that Torres probably wasn't the right buy at this time. Drogba's still a very good player even if he's had an indifferent season. I still think Torres is an excellent player, though. As for Luiz it's only fair to say that he could have won the three points for Chelsea with a fantastic through ball which Torres miscontrolled when he should have scored. He also made a great last ditch tackle which probably saved a goal. The two commentators made him MOM despite the penalty and I agree. for someone coming fresh to a new country, league, culture I thought he had a fantastic full debut. Of course he didn't have to face Zamora and sterner challenges await him from much better teams but if I had to choose right now between Terry and Luiz I'd go straight for the Brasilian.

Of course I hope he has a mare against us!

He stopped a goal in the first few minutes of the first half too, when Johnson was causing them problems.

Another 2 hours I'll never get back.

Although it is the cup and it is Europe, so I suppose its all about the result and not all the minutes you actually have to watch.
