Nope, United win all day for me, especially after yesterday's result.

fair play to you. what i should have said was 'our title race is over' i still believe arsenal can do it. you have to beat your rivals to win the title at least once in the season imo. in my mind we don't deserve to win the title becase we have failed to do this.

This may well be the case, because of what you said that we didn't beat our rivals once. But I see it didfferently, I think to win the title you have to drop the less points against lesser opposition, and again, we didn't do well enough against that kind of opposition so we probably don't deserve the title; and yet, we still have the mathematical possibility to nick it if we find our lost form, and Arsenal and United start dropping points. It's not very probable, that's for sure. But on paper, the possibility is still there ;)

Thus, on the topic of the Chelsea vs. rags game, I still think a draw would be the best result for us.

A United win is a massive boost to our CL chances. Dont see the quandry myself.

This. I despise the horrid scumbags as much as anyone, but I'm a pragmatist and we need Chelsea to lose.

If we can't finish 4th on merit, then we don't fucking deserve it. Simples.

I also think that Chelsea chasing us down right to the last day would be a good thing for the players in terms of experiencing true pressure. This would stand us in good stead for the future, as being top of the league at this stage of the season is the easy bit, staying top through a sustained period of pressure when all behind you are winning every game is precisely what seperates the likes of Chelsea and United from the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle for example over the years.

Horse shit! Rags v Chelsea 2 matches to go. We are top by 4 points, in front of Chelsea, in second, with 1 match to play. Chelsea 4 points behind us 2 games to play. Rags is Chelseas game in hand and Rags need to consolidate their mid table position. City and Chelseas goal difference is the same. If the Rags beat Chelsea they hand the title to us. We have Chelsea to play on the last day of the season knowing if they beat the Rags they are a point behind us with us to play.

Unlikely granted, but I give you a circumstance where rags win = fine by me. Its all about City baby!!!

This positions on merit stuff is rubbish. Teams beat other teams around us, it happens. It doesn't mean we won't be there on merit. Its means other teams won't be there because they couldn't win their matches.

Regardless whether United win, Chelsea will still finish in front of us. Therefore wanting Utd to win to help us is pretty pointless.

And as for merit, well that spot is ours to lose - so yes, we should be aiming to finish in that spot by our own efforts. We saw what happened last year when we all expected Spuds to lose at Chelsea, and subsequently they finished 4th on merit - ef, because they won all their games that mattered at the crunch time and we didn't

Won't it be wonderful, when Utd are celebrating the title at the end of the season, & we finish 2 points behind Chelsea in 5th, to know that if Utd had beaten Chelsea they would have won the title by seven points rather than four?

It makes our existence worthwhile.

Couldn't care less either way, now. If we maintain our current form - or rather "style" - we won't be troubling the top 4 at the end of the season, anyway.

Ironic or not, that kind of sums up my feelings. Nearing the end of another season and here we are again hoping other teams will do us a favour.

Utd spend every season hoping other teams do them a favour, including us, that's football. However, they would NEVER hope that we lose to one of their rivals if it endangers their chances of success, NEVER. The fact that some of our fans would rather take a step towards missing fourth place than have the rags get 3 points they may not even need is beyond belief imo.

I am not that obsessed with them that I would jeapordise our future to scupper theirs - we need to be in the champs league next season, NEED to be in it

there are some downright bizarre opinions on this thread. fuck me i can't believe the bitterness i was thinking to myself the other day it's died off and credited that to our team finally stepping up so we have something positive to concentrate on rather than just watch united from the shadows. How people can say they'll be damned if they want a united win when it benefits manchester city at a crucial point in the season is absolutely beyond me. Who ARE these people? That said, the football fan in me would like to see a bit more excitement in the title race, so after all that I'll be fine with either result!

FUCK OFF.

Glad to see that I am not alone on this - no fucking way will I be doing anything other than looking for Chelsea goals tonight - from where we are we must be able to finish top 4 without having to desperately depend on others...

you are right - but it is all about opinions and on this subject I guess there is no right or wrong despite the strength of those opinions - I absolutely fully respect the opinions of those that want a scum win - I just absolutely do not

I think that we are going to be top 4 anyway - and a double with the scum not winning the title would be nice. We are out of it but I would hugely prefer the arse to win the title over the scum
