Nice thankyou.
I suppose its good for us to be so alltruistic but we do seem to have dropped a bollock IMO as far as Phill goes.
And the thing about being able to score in an unbalanced league strikes me as somewhat odd.Would people not have someone like Messi,Villa,Eto for example because they haven't done it in the prem. Why have we taken a risk on Edin ?

Not altruism, we agreed a fair market price. We were happy to have someone take on his wages. If that figure is accurate then he was on a lot less than I expected.

Caicedo had his moments for us but he was a young raw footballer and he got lost in the mix. He was signed as long term by Sven but pressure was higher because he was expensive and a mid-season signing at a time when we needed a striker. Because he was more expensive than Benjani, more was expected immediately.

I haven't really seen him for Levante but it seems that a run of games and the opportunities to have the team more built around him has worked wonders. It's a world of difference between being an expensive kid from two managers ago when there's crazy amounts of talent in the squad and being the highest paid player in the squad (even before you factor in the fact that we were paying him the same amount again).

From the article there might also be an element that playing in England helped him. He's a physical player and he came up against physical defenses that didn't give you a lot of time, this is exactly what you need if you're going to be living off long balls and scraps, even (especially) in Spain.

Have I got my maths here correct, and he's on about £10k a week? 300+300 = 600, divide by 50 =12, convert to pounds =10.

I'm amazed.

Yep, they're paying him £5k a week and they're going to sell him because they can't afford to keep him.

But they don't own him, do they?

With a buying clause, can Levante buy him even if the club does not want to sell any more? And do they intend to buy him in order to sell him on immediately?

They do not own him at this time. When they took him on loan they agreed to have the option to buy him at the end of the loan. If they exercise this option (it's their choice, and they will take this option) they will then look to sell to generate the necessary funds.

Weiss would.

I wouldn't mind knowing what Cityger thinks of Weiss's performances. Has he ever given us a report?

Vlad hasn't pulled up any trees nor has he been as bad as ross makes out. Rangers are happy with him and I think McCoist would like him for another year.

His limitations are his lack of physical presence, his desire to beat a man three times when once will do, his lack of awareness of when to release the ball and I'd like to see him go outside the fullback more often. Many of my mates are season tickets holders. All them say they just want to see him knock the ball down the line, in to space and kill the full back for pace. He seems strangely reluctant to do this which is an odd one as there are very few full backs in the SPL who could live with him for pace.

One of the positives has been his attitude which has been first class all season. Whether he has started or come off the bench, every appearance has been a 100% job. He's strong for a small lad, tough and can produce a moment of brilliance. Technically he has improved over the season. His first touch let him down at first but it's getting better. I think playing in Europe and in some very big old firm games has done him a world of good, he seems to have developed a bit of bottle and I like the fact that he's always the first on the scene when things get firey. Another positive is his versatility and Smith has done him a favour I think by using him on both flanks and behind a striker as it has definitely developed his game.

A decent season and one which he has benefited from. Can he cement a place in our first team? Not from what I've seen but he could definitely contribute to the squad and yes I'd definitely have him ahead of Jo. I think another year up here, under a more attack minded manager, would do him no harm at all, especially if Rangers qualify for the champions league. McCoist will trust him in that and in other competitions more than Smith does.

Vlad takes the piss out of Samaras' penalty miss.

Mate was stood next to him in the stand at Kilmarnock on Sunday and he said he thinks he'll be back at Rangers for another year.

i know we dont need the money, but still....!

mancini wouldnt have bellamy back, no matter how much the fans did.

I'd get Phil back and have him go out on loan over here for the first three months of next season to a promoted side or something. If he can crack it in the Prem, he might be useful backup. Our Kalou or whatever. Every squad needs good players that don't get pissy when they're on the bench.

id much rather have him on the bench than Jo. He's a decent player and would nick the odd goal unlike side show bob. i should be staggered that we are letting him go so cheap but sadly im not. somethings will never change at city!

There it is again. Jo card is played. Game, set and match.

I'd much rather have my nana on her wheelchair than Jo. How about we have neither as a back up?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

If your nana entered a Dancing Thunderdome against Jo, she would not leave.

I'd echo a lot of that on Weiss, as the guys I spoke to about him who are RSC Season Ticket holders said the very same thing - "wish he'd take a full-back on the outside and go to the bye line more often"

Can't ever see Vlad making it at City now, as we've moved on from being a top ten club to a top 4 club, and he simply wouldnt see many games unless he vastly improves. Another years loan at Rangers who will welcome him with open arms, appears most likely.
