Spurs wouldn't want to break their wage ceiling or it would set an unsustainable precident.

I think we do need 4 strikers. When you think that we have Balotelli who is red card waiting to happen and how easy would it be for the other to to be injured at the same time (imo that is more likely to happen at some stage than not) you just simply need good 4th striker.
The fourth doesn't have to be superstar but he needs to be good enough to lead the line when called upon. Whether Mancini feels Guidetti is good enough to be that man remains to be seen.

It appears we had to pay to get Guidetti back so there's your 4th striker purchased!

Guidetti will play the Jo role next year. Break incase of emergencies.

If Twitcher is really serious about signing Adebayor from us and the main stumbling bock is, purportedly, his wages, I wonder if we could arrange some sort of exchange deal for Adebayor and Defoe (who currently seems to be out of favour with the Cockney Barrow Boy).

We'd get our fourth striker and Spurs would counterbalance Ade's wages on their books, by not having Defoe's salary to pay out.

Could this be a viable option, or is Defoe not good enough for us ??

I think Defoe is still living off that one great season he had at Bournemouth. How old is he now?

Defoe has never been good enough. He is at best a mid table Premiership striker and it's only his nationality that maintains his reputation as this top class striker.

Still think we messed up by taking Benjani instead of him

I dont think it was ever an option. Sven was our manager. The same Sven that took a 17 year old Walcott to the world cup instead of DeFoe. Something DeFoe publically called into question and registered his disgust.

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks this. I keep hearing inthe media how wonderful and how dangerous a striker Defoe is and I have never seen any serious evidence to back this up.

didn't he go about a year between scoring in the league 2 seasons ago and his first last season in something like March?
