Agree as first 'worst' player- was about 7 when I first saw this:

I'll raise your RSC with a Ralph Brand. We paid £25,000 (some sort of record fee then) to some Scottish club (Hibs?) for him. As a footballer he was fucking dreadful and as a striker he didn't even get to be as good as dreadful.

Rangers I think and yes he was shite.

I admit I didn't start supporting City until the 02-03 season, so I apologize in advance that I can't reflect on the poor signings of the '80s. That said, I've been privy to no small number of horrible City signings. Van Buyten was class for other teams pre- and post-City, but he was shit for us, even before being injured (after only five matches). Corradi was absolute shit, despite one of the great goal celebrations. How about McManaman? Bojinov? Danny Mills?

Really, though, Jo may be the worst. Expensive, purchased by a war criminal, rarely even wore several other shirts that were not City shirts.

He was a long way from being the worst player in Sven's side, let alone the worst we've ever had. Headless chicken, fair enough, but he was a decent squad player who we managed to sell for a few million. Eye of the beholder, though.

I wonder if, 10 years from now, people will say Barry was the worst City player they've ever seen?

Not the worst player by any means but, perhaps, one of the most wayward :- Steve Kinsey.

We used to call him speedboat because he was pretty fast, however, his ball control and first touch were variable, to say the least.

When he was (regularly) put through in a one on one situation with the opposition's 'keeper, it was a case of closing your eyes and keeping your fingers crossed.

Barry Silkman wasn't so hot from what I remember, and what about Docherty's son, who ended up playing for us in the wilderness years?
Actually I nominate Paul Sugrue from I gess the mid 70's but I'd be amazed if anyone remembers him. He did feature in the first team though, I was there, he ran as though he was running through treacle.

You've had it good if you think he's worst ever City player. I didn't think Fernandes was even that bad. Great effort, decent shot, could pass the ball around bit. He lacked game reading ability needed in that position but far from being worst ever.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Gerry Creaney was probably my top shitehouse. Lee Bradbury and Steve Daley (for the money we paid) were absolute dogshit.

Other classics Rae Ingram, Rae Kelly, David Brightwell, Barry Conlon, Bill Williams (homesick for Stockport), Terry Park, Ged Brannan, Martyn Margetson, Ade Mike, Simon Treacey, John Burridge, Kevin Langley, Chris Shuker, Mikkel Bischoff, and of course the mysterious £4m Mathias Vuoso - that deal never was explained, nor the reason why KK never played the guy. Christian Negouai too had the bizarrest City career, with multiple sendings off and a great Volleyball goal against Rotherham.

Older ones, Ged Keegan and Bobby Shinton, and finally a player I had hoped to cast from memory but cant, our big Ozzie summer signing - first player signed by KK - the one the only (thank god) Simon Colosimo.

David Brightwell by a country mile. Easily.

Van Buytan worse ever city player? Are you crazy? He put van nistelrooy in his pocket in the derby he played and horsehead was one of the best around at the time, one of our biggest mistakes was not signing van buytan he was prob the best defender we had had since curle at the time!!! Danny mIlls was a leach on high wages he wasnt that bad of a player if he had of been on low wages he would of been a decent signing for us! Bojinov?now come on, im not the bojs biggest fan to say the least but anytime he wasnt injured(which wasnt often granted) he looked decent.

Simon Treacy was pretty awful when we got him on loan years ago, pretty much most of the 97/98 team, i think bradbury is prob my biggest dissappointment 3m when we were skint and he was shocking hes def our worse ever signing,David Seaman was pretty awful when he played for us too. So hard to pin down one truly terrible player...
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a definite confusion here. Many players were disappointing with us, but the likes of Corradi, Bojinov, Macca and Mills were decent players, internationals etc, we just had the worst of them. In fact you cant compare McManaman and Mills with some of the dross mentioned. They were disappointing yes, because of the standard we expected and they had shown before.

I thought we were talking about absolute shite, who shouldn't be on any field at all, and I rest my case with David Brightwell. Then there's Ade Mike I suppose........................

In last 10 years we had some really awful players, but I think Jon Macken has to get a mention paid 5 million for him and he scored 7 goals in over 50 games as a striker apart from his winner against spurs in the cup I can't say he did anything but miss good chances

Always liked fernandes thought he was a good midfielder, and think he really liked playing for the club.

Rumored to be on his way to Leicester, be interesting to see how he gets on in the championship.
