Scott Parker - Sky Bet

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Overrated beyond measure. Nearly 31 and the closest he's come to playing for a good team is when he spent one season at Chelsea, before they decided they didn't want him after he'd played about a dozen times for them. Who did he end up with then? The Rags? Arsenal? Liverpool? Nope, it was Newcastle, the club whom just about every average player in Europe has played for. Now into his thirties he can only get even more ordinary. A poor man's Gareth Barry.

If your keeper gets a serious injury lasting more than 30 days, you can replace him. We have several places in the CL squad.

I know we are all scratching our heads at why we would want him but lets try and figure out why he would join us (apart from cash)

Minimal chances to play at his age

Wont get picked for England whilst bench warming.

Will be found out to be yet another over hyped English player surrounded by class.

He has already had a similar spell at Chelsea. That didnt work out for him and he's five years older now.

If I was him at his age I'd be going to a Villa, Everton, Newcastle playing every week and being a big fish in a small pond. Cementing his reputation and England place in a year ending in a tournament.

Unless of course his only options are City or the championship?

I reckon he'll end up at Villa.

Surely Lerner will give McLeish a few more quid to spend.

Mancini has said on more than one occasion that he only has 22 squad players out of the 25. That doesn't include Nasri so in his mind we're two light. All the talk so far has been that he wants a wide man to replace SWP and a top class centre back to partner Kompany. I don't see how Parker fits the bill.

He's clearly said we need to replace Vieira. Parker is a centre mid who's slow & plays like he's 36.

LOL. Aren't we said to be interested in Coates, the giant Uruguayan defender? I don't what's happened about Alessio Cercio as a wide man although I'd much prefer Eden Hazard.

There again there's been talk that after Nasri he can only have loans. Perhaps Albiol is available from Real. He seems to have slipped down the pecking order.

Parker could be a loan.

I've never studied Coates in detail (no puns please) but he's 6 ft 6 & pretty fast by all accounts. The fact he's from Uraguay suggests he should be half decent technically as a footballer. If he turns out the dogs bollox & we've signed a much physically smaller CB with no pace who's average in the air instead, I will be somewhat disappointed to say the least.

I heard a rumour Kenny Jackett was after Coates for Millwall - someone might have been pulling the wool over my eyes though.

I don't want him. His name is too similar to 'Sebastian Coe', who gets right on my tits.

What's the problem with Scott Parker? He was the PotY last season for doing so well with West Ham and ensuring they finished as close to the top of the league as possible; a real leader and someone who can motivate those around him to achieve things they shouldn't.

So, what's the problem with Scotty Parker?

Does this mean he motivated the West Ham squad to get relegated, as they probably shouldn't have? Either that or his motivational skills are a myth. Either way it's bad.

Someone should show that Coates jpg to Mancini if he plans to buy Parker.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Shit, I need to wake up. In fact I just reread your post in full, something I will certainly do before posting again. The only words I picked up first time around were motivate and achieve. Missed the whole part about finishing as close to the top!
