Adebayor at Spurs

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Sentimentality aside (I like Ade a lot) he just isn't a Mancini type of player - Ade needs to thrive on praise to feed his confidence and Bob just isn't that type of manager. We need more people with the atitude and 'grit and graft' of Milner/Barry/Silva.

I like ade. But the fact remains that mancini is the boss and he doesn't fancy him. Nor did mourinho and real are our level. Not fucking spurs.

We should have kept him and never have brought in Dzeko.
Better player in my opinion.

I remember when he scored 2 against wolves one time ( i think) and he was dropped for the next match.
Never really had a chance here. Not a mancini type player.

I am definitely not in the camp of “.....oh we should have kept him.....”. It is the same with Bellers – we could really do with either (or both) of them in our squad and willing to be a squad member doing what the manager feels he needs. Problem is both of these players were not willing to do that for the club that pay them a lot of money.

FFS Mancini had enough to deal with when he started and here we sit top of the league – I can understand why he only chose/chooses to indulge players that he really thinks are worth the hassle (Carlos last year) or he has personal accountability for – the others he has just dispensed with.

For me the fault lies with the employees that were not willing to do what their employers needed from them

I know this will not happen – but if Spurs were to sign Ade on a 5 year contract on his CITY salary – how long would it be before the Spurs fans were moaning about his lack of effort etc

Bellamy is the perfect squad player. It's exactly what he's doing for Liverpool & would have loved to do for us. Adebayor, not so much. He needs to play.

agree 100%.....it would have been great to have a selection of Johnson, Bellamy, Nasri, Milner, Tevez, Balotelli coming off the bench at various points.

One is absent due to being a prick, the other is fully Mancini's fault

Re Ade, if they sign him permanently....or if Saha now starts (even occasionally) keeping him out of the starting XI...let's see what happens to this current level of performance

The thing with Adebayor is he plays really well when he has just joined a club but in his second seasn and beyond he becomes complacent and doesn't put in the effort required to be a top class centre forward. There is no doubt that he has the ability it is just that he doesn't apply himself properly which is why he will never be truly world class - it's all in his head. As Ted said we would have been better off keeping Bellamy - he has incredible pace (which we are missing) but his other great assets are his work rate and determination, qualities which we could have done with in difficult fixtures in January

If Spurs beat the Rags with Ade in the team, what do you reckon Taggart and his media cronies will have to say?

Good spot mate. I could see them going ape-shit, telling us all that loans between PL clubs shouldn't be allowed but at the same time praising 'Arry for his foresight in bringing such a player in. It will be wrong, but it'll be right, if you know what I mean.

I agree that Bellers would be a perfect squad player - I have said previously how wonderful it would have been to have had him available off the bench with 30mins to go. I seriously think that this season's title would be already nearly in the bag and who knows how much closer we would have been last season.

All the more fucking annoying that Bellers could not act as the professional he claims to be and play his role as a squad player as directed by the chosen manager of the club. It is him not being able to play his part for us that most fucks we off.

I do not agree with your comment "...what he's doing for Liverpool & would have loved to do for us" - he was only willing to do so on his terms. When it came to doing it on the terms of the man chosen by CITY to manage the club (the same people paying Bellers so handsomely) - he let everyone down very badly (IMO).

I strongly disagree but have been over it too many times to do it again.
