I know that Onuoha isn't quite up to the level of quality that we now expect as the norm for a City player, but £2.5m, if correct, seems to be a miserably paltry fee and at that price, it almost makes you think it would be worth hanging onto him until the summer as an insurance against future injuries to any defenders in the run-in.
In any event, I always thought that the January window tended to inflate prices, as clubs who were desperate for new players were more willing to stump up the cash. If Cahill, with 12-18 months left on his contract is worth £7m, as has been bandied around, surely Onuoha ought to fetch somewhere in excess of £5m ??
Anyway, talking of sides/managers prepared to stump up the cash, 'King Kenny' seems to be amenable to paying over the odds for mediocrity and, with Suarez now being absent for 8 games, I wonder if we could dangle Roque Santa Cruz under his nose - who knows, we might even get all our money back that we've spent on him if the Anfield Legend took the bait.......OK, OK perhaps that's stretching the imagination too far.........
