Best right back display in history vs liverpool. I was so proud of sparkless that day for his genius - nobody would ever have though of playing gelson there. It even shocked liverpool so much that it took them a full 5 minutes to recover from laughing before they scored

Had totally forgotten about that cameo performance at right back.

It still haunts me, 2 months into his reign, and that was the day i knew nothing good would ever come of having that cunt as manager.

I was at that game, still haunts me too and my mates who are liverpool fans havent let me live it down.

Ok Clichy wasnt great going forward yesterday but he was solid enough defensively. He is at best 4th choice right back prob 5th or 6th, its not ideal but in a worse case scenario its not the worse option to have there.

Why he insisted on using his left foot i have no idea, you would have to ask him yourself but as doug confirmed he did say he was naturally right footed, maybe all these years using has left has made his right redundant? i dont know, I am just guessing.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It amazes me how everyone knew Gelson couldn't play right back. I'd seen him play loads of times & he seemed quick & a quite a good tackler & very determined & difficult to shake off, the sort of player who may be able to play right back, yet everyone else knew he couldn't play right back without even seeing him try.

I salute you.

It was more he fact that we had a perfectly capable centre half on the bench, and richards could have moved out to right back - where incidentally i think he played for england a few weeks earlier, which was the issue with he substitution.

The fact he was poor is not really the issue, it certainly wasnt the players fault he was stuck there

Gelson was THE ultimate headless chicken. When playing RB (or LB) you need to keep your position when defending and know where the attacker is. It was obvious to everyone, bar one, that he would be shit there.
