we're set on cruise control to third place on current form i'd say.

Mancini tried to protect 2nd place today, and failed.

cheers

Win the next six games and we finish on 89 points. If that happened how many of us would have opted for finishing on 89 points at the start of the season? how many of us would have considered that an amazing achievement at the start of the season? how many would think that maybe it would have been enough to win it???? 99% of us!!!
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

I think you'll find that for the time he had massive amounts to spend. If it wasn't for one exceptional youth team all coming through at the same time then he would have been done years ago.

Ferguson had similar resouces to us & it took him years to do anything. However, on a day like today, he would have had 2 wingers,a shitload of strikers & everyone including the goalkeeper in Arsenal's penalty area.

If someone can explain to me a good reason why we didn't, they can perhaps reaffirm my faith in Mancini.

Because Mancini was too stubborn to buy two wingers. Been saying it all season, width is the key and we don't have any player even close to resembling a proper winger.

To be fair, thats very true, if you had said to me we would get 89 points at the start of this season I would have been happy.

I dont think we will, I think we will end with 81/82 which is still 10 points better off than last season.

But if you had said to me we would have been 3 points clear of United before Everton away on 31/01 and by Easter we would be 8 points behind them, I wouldnt have been happy.

But your aspirations change once you are shown what is possible.

You dont manage from year to year, you manage from day to day, and you realign your ambitions based on results.

If i were newcastle, had a mediocre squad with some astute signings and top of the league with 7 wins out of 7, i wouldnt expect a title challenge. If i were smashing teams out of sight and clearly better than every other team by a considerable margin, i would change my expectations from a title challenge, to a title win.

If you had said at the start of the season, in fact even on new years day, that united could bag 90-95 points, you would have been certifiable, but they have done what they needed to do

Sorry Kev, Not having this.

Fergie has managed his team an average team to a winning margin never expected by anyone.

Mancini, has the squad, he has failed to use it to our benefit. Players do not need rotation for the sake of it. Messed up the Napoli away leg,We have progressed I accept that, however he has tossed it off through shit tactics and a stubborn streak that is his biggest fault. Mario is a twat, he has blindly supported him, Silva, lost in the Pizzaro signing, and tired TBF. 25% of the squad do not have a clue where they stand with the manager, Fullbacks rotated to give Koloarov a game beggers common sense, AJ and Milner treated as though they are 18, AJ is hit and miss but I put that down to lack of confidence and gamess given a chance like Mario and Kolarov and even Savic, what was the Ned thing about,he is so much better suited to us than Savic, stubborness again ! so he could be excused the League cup defeat, I mean who loses to Liverpool, or Swansea for that matter over the last 2 months, we do. No for me get Pep Guardiola with this squad with some defensive back up, would be great, Fegie with this squad won by Dec 11, he willin my opinion become a Benitez 2nd place merchant Fergie has his number, game over.

Guardiola has not yet proved he can reinvent Barcelona once the likes of Iniesta & Zavi move on - Kolarov gets far too much stick as at least he offers more going forward than Clichy - Ned was never good enough for us & that's blue tinted views of him, he's hardly up rooting trees at QPR, as for Savic yes he looks out of his depth, but what option did we have? Only when Richards & Zabaleta were fit did he have alternative cover to Lescott / Kompany / Kolo

Nay man, get your story straight. Firstly you said that being the richest club in football won us the cup and that did I think we'd have won it without the money, but then go on to say that any club can win a cup with a bit of luck? So in that case the money is irrelevant isn't it?

The fact remains that he is the manager that brought me/us our first proper trophy in my lifetime and I see no reason to lessen that achievement.

Hughes got us to a semi final (which he didn't get chance to manage), so cups are easier than the League. Anyone can win a cup with luck - our luck was having the money to spend an absolute fortune. Do you really think one FA cup is a reasonable return for that?

Well we're at the root of the issue now. I consider the FA Cup win to be the best thing that's happened to City in my lifetime, you view it as pure luck. Don't think we're going to find a middle ground to meet at on that one. You also say that "anyone can win a cup with luck". Well not one manager at City managed it in 35 years so I'll continue to hold the squad and management team from last year in high regard.

As Rural has also pointed out, we're on for a record points haul this season too which may well have won the title in many previous seasons.

My original thoughts still stand, I'm torn as to what we should do.

You`re spot on Ted. fergie finished with 4 strikers on the pitch against qpr, we finished with 1. Thankfully Khaldoon was there to witness the shambles yesterday and will have a few squeaky bum questions for Bob. I do feel if we go downhill from now to the end of the season he will go, however, the decision Bob should`ve made weeks ago was correctly made by the ref yesterday.
