Scored some decent goals yeah, but he also went missing for 90% of the games he played in and didn't really work hard for the team, and we know that's all important for Bob. My problem with Johnson over the last 6 months is he was almost trying too hard to impress. Instead of whipping in a dangerous cross/pass, which he can do, he'd cut in and bang a shot. Frustrating at times. Personally think £17.5mil is a decent amount, reckon we can get £20m though.

And play with one less player than everyone else on the squad because we don't meet the "domestic player" quota? What do we do with the money anyway?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Are they mad? That is a crazy amount of money for him.

He is talented but his attitude is wrong and we could find at least ten other players of similar ability but with a better attitude.

He could have buckled down, been a cracking squad player and won loads of medals with us. He just couldnt be arsed.

He will be playing for the likes of Wigan in three years. Complete waster.

not sure on the exact rule and can't be arsed looking it up but we've got a decent amount of english players? Hart, Richards, Lescott, Barry, Milner. Compare this to say Arsenal, who have who? Walcott, Wilshire, Gibbs? I've probably missed a couple but I don't think we should be shitting ourselves about this domestic rule.

Weird decision to let him go, if you ask me.
Johnson is a useful player with teams below the six place. I really don't want him to go and beside that, he is the only real winger we have. Big mistake imho.

However, i think this means we have someone up our sleeve.

Bloody hell, Ian McGarry must be well inside if he even knows how much van Pussy will be earning? Just think, if that was true, which I doubt very much, he's lost just short of a million by waiting those extra 4 weeks. I bet his Mrs isn't happy with that!

Good deal if true.

I feel the opposite about this. Sure he's no David Silva at the moment but he gives us another dimension to our game. Imo very good squad player to have and as we don't really need the money I don't think we should sell him. If the club have replacement in mind with good price...£17,5m would be fine but I'm not sure there are too many better players around wiht that price

Absolutely correct. He's got the talent and just needs better coaching.

A lad in work was out with Martin Kelly from Liverpool last night. Said that he asked about this Johnson rumour and Kelly told him Rodgers won't touch him with a barge pole. Said it's well known how much of a big drinker Johnson is. Said Kelly was out in Vegas and AJ was out there at the same time pretty much smashed every night.

Better coaching, are you sure?? More like a change of attitude and application. I dont think you can put it down to coaching when you see players in the same squad come on leaps and bounds like Richards and Zabba.

You have to have the mentality also and application and I dont see that with him. If he stays he really needs to get his head down and work because he will be out the door if he doesnt.

Wouldn't argue with you there, Sister. Guess I really meant development, rather than coaching, with the emphasis on motivation.

I'm not sure any better coaching would stop him from losing the ball on the half way line 9 times out of 10. Its down to him. He's got all the talent in the world, but no one else can give him the motivation to kick on

Mancini sometimes makes his mind up about a player and that's that (except when he changes it, as with Tevez!) Maybe if Johnson got himself wed and settled down he'd become the complete player City need him to be.

so a marriage would cure him? is this 1962?

I think it wouldn't hurt to loan him out until Jan to someone to give him a run of games so that Mancini can watch him play instead of the shackles he's under, self-imposed or Mancini-imposed, here at City. Send him to Everton or Newcastle on loan. Seriously. i'd rather see that than selling him for sure if those are my options.
