Not having that. Redondo was crippled by injuries & even turned down his wages because of that. Legend & probably the closest to a complete midfielder in the last 15-20 years. Shat on Roy Keane in glorious fashion.
But he's a good example of someone who was flying high one minute and then quickly out of the picture, like most of the names in this thread.
Well, seems like most people in this thread haven't read the opening post then. No worries tho, if we left out all the players whose careers petered out due to injuries, age or the one-hit wonders who never were at the top for a considerable time to begin with, there'd be hardly any left to name.
Redondo, however, was a genuinely brilliant player even before his time with Madrid. He was a bit of a stubborn character, which is part of the reason he never had the impact he should've had on the national team, denying him the success & subsequently the reputation as one of the best players of his generation. Injuries ended his career, it's as simple as that & a damn shame it was.
One player who I feel fits in this topic is Ronaldinho. He went rather rapidly from two-time World Player of the Year to a bit of a secondary character at Milan & the national team before he eventually returned to Brasil much too early. Only 32 years, shocking.
