Smashing the ball accross the goal when no one is there doesnt make a good cross for me. His end product is slightly above Zabba but not as good as Micah for me (although Micah cant shoot). Hopefully he'll improve though.

Nasri Silva Yaya were better.

He's the best crosser of the ball in our squad - much better than either Micah or zaba. It's not his fault that our forwards weren't busting a gut to get on the end of his crosses (probably because they're not used to/don't expect such quality delivery into the box). Silva was the only player who came close to Maicon's level of performance on Saturday

Funny how we all see different things.

Reason I chose Micah is that if he gets in a good position he tends to look up and pick a run, if no one is on he'll do his best to retain possession and work the ball back into a different area or simply pass back to a team mate. Maicon seems a bit hit and hope. But it's early days so hopefully he will prove me wrong.

What? Of course I saw the game. I didn't think Maicon was as exceptional as some of the other lads and I find it weird that someone did.

So who was your motm?

Edit. Have a look on the motm thread. Seems that there are quite a few who agree with me

I haven't seen any man of the match threads and never base my opinion on others anyway. Silva, Tevez and YaYA were all better for starters.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Neither do I. I was simply replying to your comment that you found it weird that I thought Maicon was the best player. Funny how we all see the game so differently

Maicon is definitely not hit and hope. His distribution when he came on against spurs was excellent as it was on Saturday. He puts dangerous balls into the box that our forwards should be attacking. If you think that constitutes 'hit and hope' then you need to reassess your understanding of football

Nqdp, you say Maicon isn't the type of player to bring on when we are losing, merely a good player to have when we are winning against shit.

Have you already forgotten about the Spurs game a couple of weeks back?

Three or four times in two games I have seen him smash the ball past the goal with no strikers in sight, on the other hand Kolarov and Nasri have both picked out passes on the other side that led to a goal or attempts on goal. Now i'm not saying he shouldnt be crossing like that but it's one thing just smashing it and another placing it when there is a chance of a player getting on the end of it.

being brazilian, maicon looks very elegant on the ball... to some that equates to being a brilliant footballer. not saying he isn't decent or that he's not played well recently but i prefer micah or zab in the right back slot....

It's those sort of hit and hope balls that we have been needing for Dzeko - it's his bread and butter. Hopefully the two of them will forge a decent relationship assuming they actually get picked together for the same match.

Appears not arsed of the honour to be a City player.
I dont give a shit of how good he might be going forwards, it's a team game, not a Tranny/Beckingham late night show!

can right f**k off, for me.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

In Roger Ailes/Donnie Drumpf's words: "don't know it for a fact, but many people say so..."
there must be some truth, then!

He stopped to argue with the crowd on Saturday and was very average.

Tonight he was a disgrace first half and below par second half.

I don't think he's particularly bothered though. He's a very rich man who's already won everything domestically to win.

I didn't think he had a bad game tonight although of course he switched off for that first goal, Sadly so too did Joe who could/should have come out and taken it with ease if he had read it correctly. It did land inside the 6 yard box!!!

Totally agree. Add to that, he had a great pass across for Aguero. He picked it up second half, the majority of the chances were created from his side.

It really depends on what you expect from Maicon.I would presume from seeing Maicon back in seria a his whole game is based on stretching the opposition and delivering crosses. He certainly helped us up the pace in the second half. It's going to be interesting to see how he gets on.He will play I feel he is deffo a Mancini player.

He had a great run too in the first half the give and go with Aguero was superb. He's not the same old Maicon though, he doesn't come close to making the Brazilian squad anymore; his days are numbered.

The whole of the east stand were right behind him 2nd half he dominated the right hand side so much that we forced the LB to hoof it anywhere, Agree got done for the goal ball watching.

I thought he had a good game overall last night.

But 3 or 4 times he was played in and the ball was perfect for a first time cross behind their defence and across the 6 yard box. But he took a touch and the cross was blocked. That was really frustrating.
