Could become a great player & seems to be emotionally stable but he isn't the one doing the defending. If you put a clone of him in place of Vinny, we would lose every game.

Someone has to actually go out & stop people & there are two in that side who do that job: Vinny+Zabba. Nastasic is not a great defender at this time, just a very promising one.

While we couldn't swap him with Kompany, no, you have to marvel how well he has been coping at the age of 19. Seems to improve by game as well. I expect minor set back with his progression at some stage but I reckon this boy is going to be a superstar central defender in next ten years.

I'm not disputing any of that, I'm delighted with his progress. However, he is a kid holding down a spot in the first team, not a mainstay like people are making out. What we are looking at is enormous potential but at present, he isn't the bloke clearing the ball, making the tackles & generally doing the defending, he is helping the blokes who are doing it; ie mainly Vinny & Zabba. His main contribution is being neat & tidy & cleaning up around them. If that's all it needs then great. If it needs someone other than Vinny to do some serious defending though, he won't. He'll do some good stuff here & there & then go missing or slip up here & there. If we suddenly need both centre backs defending balls out, we will only have one. He isn't at that level yet.

He is getting better.

I think he has kept it simple the last few go's and is improving for sure. I think he could really have an impact in a year or so .... only time will tell.

I like Nasti, he is very promising. VK doesn't seem as good a player as he was when playing alongside JL. Is there room for 2 ball playing centre halfs? JL has a bit of roughness that Nasti doesn't have, seems to suit playing alongside VK. Nasti is only getting better, good to see that we have a decent back up now! Not Savic and Kolo!!

Lescott has always been the acident waiting to happen in our defence, while people assume Nasti will make errors because of his age Lescott has constantly made then because of a lack of quility in his game, as in he gets caught under high balls, his positioning is far inferior to Nasti`s, and pace wise its the hare v totoise every time.

Nasty is the future, he stays cool and plays the ball out where possible, looking to move it forwards rather than back or sideways as Lescott does, I would go as far as to say the last time I saw a kid of this age with such presence in a City shirt was the late Tommy Caton, or even further back Tommy Booth, I honestly think he is that good.

Another clean sheet tonight. The Vinnie/Nasty partnership is the future so don't disrupt it and leave it alone to grow into something very special.

Agreed. Mancini mustn't rate lescott so let's start fostering this central defense partnership for the future. Recent defensive stability gives credence to this argument.

Ajax away killed him and I did say he was shit at WBA, I know we won but was with Vinny all over the shop. One tackle last kick of the game masked his form. Still a good player but not good enough and not gonna get any better.
