Agreed. Shameful behavior.

Sweden had to win that game as they play Germany in the last game while Austria play the Faroe Islands which would've meant Austria would've been the favourites for the play-offs if they'd got any kind of result.

Still, to fall like a bag of shit in the 90th says everything about the bloke, or should I say, girl.

It was against an Austrian. Moral and ethic doesn't apply when you're dealing with them.

On another note: Elmander's fake injury-situation shows one aspect of football that's ridiculous: Arnautovic is known as a bad guy and so, in a situation like this the referees assume he's the culprit. It's like they're teachers sat in a faculty lounge talking shit about students. "Oh that Arnautovic, he's a real menace, cut class this morning as well, we better be tough on him." Same with Balotelli and to an extent, same with Zlatan Ibrahimovich. But for some reason, not with Charlie Adam.

Football at its worst. I hope Elmander gets a yellow card retrospectively for what he did. Probably not though. It's not like he pulled of his shirt after scoring.

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

We have a confessed wife-beater on the bench. He faced small, if any real sporting consequences for his crime. So the scale goes like this:

use cocaine and destroy nothing but your own body: a ban on several years for being a poor role-model

putting your forehead towards someone else's forehead: red card

pulling of your shirt when you score: yellow card

saying racist things: shake hands (lex Blatter)

beat your wife: nothing

Townsend and Baines playing well and main threats for England. Wellbeck poor control throughout. Gerrard looks out of it in that withdrawn covering role.

England team doctor just put his surgically gloved hands on his face as Poland nearly scored an o.g. thus negating any possible reason for wearing them.

Thought Gerrard is doing ok. Wellshite turning shot-shy, losing confidence unsurpringly. Apart from the goal, Rooney's been average

Great so we get 3 more games in the summer where we scrape through with a shakey draw in the last group game to give ourselves the prize of immediate torture and disappointment in the last 16 when we play a proper team for the first time and get shat on.

When you look back at the previous 3 world cups we should have done much better with the players we had available.

I thought Rooney was good, Gerrard effective, welbeck very good (but not necessarily at the top end), Sturridge pretty good. Nice to see joe looking better as well. People just hate for the sake of hating. England were ok tonight.

I was yelling at the TV for Welbeck to be subbed off from 20 minutes into the game onwards - he offered nothing other than ball retention tonight. It was good to see Hart have a good game.

Police are on the lookout for a pitch invader who managed to run out onto the pitch with the rest of the team. The FA are said to be fuming after this amateur made it past security. The description was a black fella with a shit haircut who had a England shirt with Welback on the back
