Brilliant to watch him at his best

He was certainly looking good but I think that was due in part to him being given space to play in and not being fouled out of the game - IMO the overall improved quality of the team play and individual improvements, especially Negredo pulling defences out of shape, will allow DS to shine this season.

Oh, and my vote went to Fernandinho who has been slated by some for his price but who looked like a bloody bargain!

I like wins like that where there are a number of players who could get MotM.Silva was quality and as I sa8id from training last week he is a joy to watch when at his best.I don't actually think he was given space either,at least not till WHU started going for it,but he was finding little pockets and with his touch and control seemed to get time.

Yaya quality,Fernandinho quality, Negredo looking a great leader of the line,Hart had a good game too but of course the press don't mention him unless it's to slaughter him.

I don't know Doug, I thought, particularly in the first half, they gave us acres of space in all areas. Take nothing away from the wizard however, he was my motm as alreadt stated

I went for dave as when he ticks the team ticks, but I think that the whole team played very very well, and Richards also been injured for most of this season also played very very good for us, more energy when he plays.

I voted Nando: I think it's fair to say that this is the game where the lad finally showed why we spent so much for him.
And where - for once - he even put Ya Ya in the shade; but by mostly doing the basic, simple stuff

I don't want to cascade praise too far down and he still had a couple of "moments" when he got drawn out of and then was left stranded out of position but Garcia actually did a few decent things yesterday....

You can't say that and not expect the piss to be taken....

I thought he played pretty damn well too :-)

The sidestep for his goal to create time & space to score was sublime.

However when a guy scores 2 & assists the other its churlish not to give MoM to him. After all my understanding is its the player who changes the game the most & the goalscorer tends to be that man. Not always as van Nistelrooy for example might only have 3 touches but score twice and other players may have altered course of game more. Aguero v WestHam played well all game though & i think deserving of MoM

Does anybody feel that Garcia had a bad game, overall?

Nope. I thought he played rather well.

I think the fact that we play with attacking wide players - thus compelling the full-backs to stay back - works for players like García and Lescott, who are vulnerable when caught one on one.

There was very little space for West Ham to exploit, and this wasn't just because we kept the ball so well. The defence never lost its shape.

I don't think he had a bad game. I also don't think he was tested all that much either tho, so my opinion of him at cb hasn't really changed.

I thought Garcia did what he had to do, but he didn't really have anyone to mark for most of the game because of theit 6 in midfield!!
As soon as he's 1 to 1 with someone I'm just worried that they just knock it round him and run because he's that slow.

Anyway Kolorov has had me eating plenty of humble pie this season, lets hope Garcia can.

I think that Javi had a really easy shift against West Ham. The defense was not really tested. BUT, the loan Hammer's goal was scored in the face of Garcia. As I watch the replay, I'm wondering why Garcia did not get his head on the ball that was bicycled into the net. He seems to not fight for the ball. Defenders need to be fighters, willing to scratch and claw their way to the ball - not observationists hoping the keeper gets there first.

Very much like 9 out of 10 of our support, I don't think that our defenders truly expect Joe Hart to ever 'get there first'.
I'm not blaming goldie locks for the wet spam goal - just saying that there can be little trust in that department (though Joe wasn't exactly commanding his area was he?).
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Once Blues get a downer on players it's very hard to turn it around. Garcia did little wrong, Hart the same but it's as if we have to pick the knits out of it just to make a point.

Aguero wasted chances and Negredo missed sitters. No really complaints there?

Strikers miss chances. Centre halves an goalies can't compare fuck up rates. Risk an reward changes up and down the pitch. It simple stuff really.

Also not many here are slamming Garcia or hart for that game. A few have pointed out errors to counteract those saying they had a great game.

To me a great game at centre half is either a Vinny style cool and classy, commanding display or a blood and guts shut down of highly skilled forwards ala dunney and Micah v united or Liverpool. Did Garcia do either of those? Not for me. Was he gash? Not really, but let's not get ahead of ourselves an make out like an ok performance has turned him into a defender.

No-one is saying he had a great game. The contrast is that, previously, he has usually had a fucking terrifying game where he has left us horribly exposed on a number of occasions.

This time he didn't do that. He did not have am amazing Kompany-esque game but I've rarely seen any of our CBs over the years have those. He was steady and safe though and as an emergency stand-in for Vinny...that is all I want and need him to be.

And, as such, it was a pretty big improvement
