Oh - you can bet he will be there some where - they will not miss a chance to kiss his ass - probably invent some 'lifetime achievement award' or some other such shit

Based on two goals?

And you gave me shit because you presumed I was basing my opinion on him on 5 games??

You're a strange one mate.

Saying someone is 'starting to settle' is hardly making a knee jerk reaction. Watched the highlights before and it was his best performance so far. Got 2 goals and 2 assists. If I said, 'he just scored 2 goals and 2 assists and therefore that proves he's the 3rd best in the world' you would have had a point. But I didn't and you don't.
You can't have it both ways. And you seemed weirdly happy he didn't set the league alight in his first 5 games.

I was happy.

And I explained why.

Several times. But you just keep bypassing it.

You say he's yhe third best player on the planet. I say you've fallen hook, line and sinker along with the British media.

Now is it just me or shall we do another poll like last time?

Because a poll on a football forum, consisting of one team's fans is conclusive evidence.
We'll see where he comes in January.

When it comes to all matters football, I value the opinions of the people on this board, as a whole, extremely highly.

Are you saying you don't?

Football fans should take other football fan's views with a pinch of salt.
This is a forum for a team though, if it was an open forum with fans from all teams then I think we'd get a more realistic/ general view. All debates and topics on here are (obviously) going to be done so through blue tinted specs. Likewise if you did that Poll on a Spurs forum you would get a very different result.
Bale is a top, top player and last season he really was right up there with the very best. It's not whether he is the 3rd best in the world, it's whether he was the third best LAST SEASON? I think so. For example, I think Aguero on his day can be just as good, but last season he was nowhere near as good as Bale. I also question the inclusion of Toure on that list. On his day he's one of the very best in the world. Maybe even top 5, but last season he was very up and down and it seems he's been included on reputation rather than form.
People are free to have their opinions, but just because the majority of this board vote one way in a poll does not make it fact, especially when considering the fact the debate is a subjective one and only accounts for a sub section of one team's fans.

No, you're right... it doesn't make it fact.

What I do find is, in situations like this, is that instead of two people saying "yes he is/no he isn't" over and over... polls will tell you how the majority feel.

Polls sometimes help me feel like I'm not losing my mind in thinking the likes of Bale is vastly over rated by the same media that keep telling us wayne rooney is up there with messi and that good old Scotty Parker was the greatest player in the Premier League one year.

In my opinion he was in the 50m bracket at most. He is now the most expensive player on the planet and he has to reflect that, because that's what truly great players do. In fact, truly great players don't take time to "adapt to their surroundings". He was more expensive than Ronaldo - if he doesn't perform at least close to his level, then he was over rated.

Like you said, we'll find out.

While we're at it, you often refer blue tinted specs. How is it that you can see the world without them and the rest of us can't? And why would being Manchester City fans make us less capable to realize greatness in a player unless he's a United player? (and probably not even then as most people will admit that the fake Ronaldo is up there with the best at the mo)

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

If Bale doesnt makes the top 3 shortlist I'll take back my claim he's in the top 3 in the world.

I really rate Bale but i'll be mega surprised if he'll make the top 3. It'll be Ronaldo, Ribery and Messi in some order most likely.
