BlueinBosnia wrote:Yes, but the majority of the rest of the squad have family in the UK, or have settled there. With the current chaos with the UK's borders, it is unlikely Jovetic's family would be permitted visas to visit him over the Christmas period (Montenegrins don't need visas for Italy), and also every other league he has played in has had a Winter Break, allowing him to return home. Florence/Italy also has very good transport connections with Montenegro; Manchester/the UK less so...

Blue Since 76 wrote:What 'current chaos'?

For Citizens of 'aspirant EU Member States', it is currently nigh on impossible to get a Visa to visit Britain, especially in larger groups (my girlfriend is Serbian Orthodox, and I know how large family gatherings are).

Blue Since 76 wrote:Plus, I'd guess a millionaire applying for a visa with a bit of notice wouldn't have too many issues.

I know from experience that that is simply not true. I know millionaires from Bosnia who have been turned down for UK visas, and also people attempting to visit millionaires in the UK who have been denied visas. Besides, because of the logistics and the nature of Montenigrins (massive generalisation coming up), the patriarchical setup of society is such that he'd be heavily encouraged to return to his hometown/town of the head of the household.

Blue Since 76 wrote:I also suspect the club would know how to sort those sort of issues out, as he's not the first overseas player.

This I agree with.

Blue Since 76 wrote:If he wants the big premier league wages, then he can put up with being away from his family. If he can't, then go get a job in a factory or shop in Montenegro and he can be with them all the time.

At the moment, he's turning into a modern day Danny Mills

We are talking about a man who is possibly nursing niggles and/or being homesick. If he was unlikely to feature due to the former, I'd allow him 4-5 days at home to soothe the latter.

I'd love to see him in 2nd half of season as he is a class act as proven at Fiorentina and International level, but i'm not sure for some reason

It sounds to me like an eager young man pushing himself too hard too quickly. There is not much the medical staff can do either if he says he feels ok to train and then breaks down because in fact he wasn't. I can't blame him. If I were a young lad like him, I'd want to play as quickly as possible too.

It would be nice to see the same sympathy extended to Jovetic as Richards and Rodwell get/got. I feel for the lad.

We would all like to know what the real issue with him is, however, the negative comments by our own about our own are speculative, damaging and are providing the media and our rivals with fuel to soil his name. We should be careful what we put out there about a City player who may still turn out to be important for us, and trust that, whatever it is, the club hierarchy is handling it with the discretion and urgency that it warrants.

Yes, but that was based on him being seen out on the piss whereas this current nonsense is just childish dickheads trying to fuel discontent for no other reason than to tarnish the reputation of our management and our player.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

I've not been on this site for a while, but New Year, new start etc.etc., then I've just run through this post thinking someone may actually have some facts about the Jovetic position, to have confirmed my belief that to many chat shite on here whilst unfortunately they actually believe the rubbish they write.

Plenty pass judgements based on their own experiences which can often lead to more shite being printed in the red tops. But then maybe that's why they post what they do!

better make a disclaimer,i am not saying this is the case with Jovetic, there is absolutely no evidence to support this scenario, and to best off my knowledge Jovetic is not a smack head, crack head or piss head or has ever been a smack head, crack head, piss head. Is a great player and will be a great addition one day .

First you say it's well documented and then you state it's kept out if the public arena which is contradictory. Any evidence of this actually happening in other cases?

Have retained your disclaimer mate so as not to mis-represent you.

Just have to say something else on this fucking moronic thread thread though.

The Worst thing happening here with Jovetic is that he's picked up several inter-related injuries - IF there's a non-physical boundary (BIG IF) then that would be the phycological hurdle of pushing his fitness levels again with the fear of further injury. Nothing more.
It is not a contradiction mate. There are 2 different issues going on.If a player fails a drug test for a banned substance and receives a substantial ban he can serve his ban under the anonymity off an on going injury,to keep his drug use out off the public arena. The part about this happening in the past is well documented. This has been common practice for a while,it saves the Club embarrassment, and it save the player being victimized and punished twice for the same thing. This is how the FA,PFA deal with this stuff in the modern age.Football players are human after all. I think That is what the OP was saying in his post.He was not saying Jovetic was a substance abuser.

Again i will say it,to my knowledge Jovetic is not a crack head, smack head, piss head or has ever been a crack head, smack head, piss head.

i fully understand people speculating when the reasons for his enforced absence differ from week to week from injuries niggles etc when we have players like Zabba and Milner playing with niggles etc sweating blood for our cause.

There is absolutely no evidence of anything presented in this thread, except a few comments from the Manager this week which I think were deliberately intended to be vague.

Surely if he was a druggie and this was all a cover up they would fabricate an actual long term injury as opposed to naming him in a match day, saying he's fit and then have him drop out ill. Its totally illogical when they could just say he'll be out for three months or whatever thus ending constant speculation.

The reality is none of us has any idea what is wrong with him.

Over the Christmas period we have been short of feet on the ground. players looking dead on their feet during the congestive festive period. Players like Zabba and Milner playing with knocks and niggles and not fully fit. up front we are very short and in need off reinforcements.

One day Jovetic will is on the bench Saturday, then its the Wednesday then the next he wont be available for another 2 weeks. it has been like this for quite a while. The other week it was food poisoning, then it was the flu then thigh strain then a niggle etc etc so on and so forth. He doesn't even appear in the physio room most the time.

You cant blame fans for speculating, when the reasons differ from week to week and answers to questions regarding his injuries are in my opinion deliberately vague.

Sort of given up looking out for him in the squad selection for this season, just have to accept he has had a bad start to his City career and hope if/when he does pop up again he gets a decent run. Just been an expensive frustration so far....
