One thing it showed me is the lack of leadership in the team. I think we have become a highly technically gifted team but one which revolves round the brilliant control and skill principally of Silva and Toure. When they are not there, as last night, we can't produce the same technical style of play and so we slumped into some low key, slow style. Last night was a big chance for Milner, Nasri and Aguero to shine, and even more so than our defence and keeper I think they collectively fell well short.
To me it seems that Pellegrini wants to create a style for the team and then it shouldn't matter who the personnel on field are, they should just execute the same thing ...
But with Silva and Yaya missing you can't expect Garcia and Milner to come in and the whole team to dance to the same tune ... he'll, even Nasri looks shit when Silva is not by his side ...
Pelligrini's biggest fault this season has been time and again he has not played to available individuals' strengths ... instead have insisted on putting in a shape and game plan that he sees as our new found 'style' and then have expected the team to produce the same whoever he puts on ... this had also shown in his pressers at times when discussing players.
