12 points has always been the key for me. If we had slipped 12 points behind, or if we do, it's over. That is usually too much barring catastrophe. Even if you get it back, you lose some of it again.

As with last year, it's very likely both sides are going to drop a number of points between now & May. But we have shown we can come through when the chips are down. Chelsea's best player in those circumstances plays for us.

I am thinking the opposite Ted, I want to be 5 or 6 points ahead when the shit hits the Fan. I would like to see a guard of honour for once with a very relaxing last game of the season and not giving a toss what the result is at our ground or anyone else's. I know I am hard to please :-)

IMHO the West Ham game last year was OK.

Yeah, that's why no one dared sing until about the 87th minute.

I'd love a season over with 6 games to go again, although where we're on top for once. Would even be able to play the kids to shut the papers up for a bit

I think that touches on another reason it's difficult for kids to come through these days; too much high intensity stuff at both ends of the league.

Mid table & even a bit higher up, used to be a nice comfortable end to the season when you could throw a few kids in, play a bit of exhibition football, etc. Only the clubs right at the very top had a chance of being in the European Cup, by winning the league, & for those a bit below, being in the UEFA Cup or not wasn't something that would make or break the club financially.

Also relegation wasn't the disaster it can be today, & there was a time when less teams went down.

Obviously all that is for another thread, but I think it's quite a key point.

After last night's performance and result, I have to say I'm relishing the next couple of months. I think the character we talked about is evident in abundance.
The boost to everyone from the events of the last week (Everton/CFA/Roma) for everyone associated with City fans/staff/players cannot be underestimated.
It makes me nervous feeling this confident at such an early stage in the season, as I am cautious by nature.
But there just seems to be such an optimistic, feel good factor within the City family at the moment, despite what the media outsiders, detractors, agenda pushers, try to label the team with.
Everything they negatively heap on the team, just seems to be rammed firmly and professionally down their throats, without fuss.
I think we are already getting to Mourinho and if they do not shake us off over the Christmas period, I think we are going to see him come up with worse
rubbish than even he has stooped to, up until now. We cracked Fergie, we cracked Rodgers and I'm confident we can do the same with him.
Hope I'm right. Like I said.....I feel unusually confident.
