Not given because of overacting and screaming like a pussy being shot by a sniper? probably.

The photos show Clark's leg making contact with Sterling's left knee & right foot... Clark also stops Sterling with his arm... 3 separate points of contact... Yes, Raheem was probably calling both Clark & ref Pawson "pussies," for denying him a goal and a penalty kick!

Do you wear your Beanie so low, that it is completely covering your eyes, during the match?!

Pffff..........Apart from the fact you don't seem able to understand perspective and angle of view, the contact after the foul is irrelevant as it wouldn't have been made if Sterling didn't fling himself to the floor in that theatrical manner. I'm not wasting any more time on answering your posts as we seem to agree on the fact it should have been a penalty, you just don't understand why I can see that we didn't get one.

I love City but that doesn't mean I can't be critical of players or call them out when showing cunt/cheat behavior. If Raheem had gone down like that against us while still wearing a scouse shirt we would be calling him a diving cheating cunt.

I personally wouldn't, i'd be breathing a sigh of relief that the ref missed the obvious foul.

This incident aside though he needs to stay on his feet more and stop trying to buy fouls as much as he does.

However, there's a huge difference between what Sterling does and what s proper cheating little cunt like Ashley Young does, this distinction needs to be made imo.

He went down far too easily, if he wasn't so dramatic he might have got it.

Sterling was hit by Clark, in 3 different parts of his body, with enough force to stop him running at full speed & knock him over... whether you personally saw it, or not!

That's a fact, no matter what "perspective or angle of view" that doubters like yourself need to see it from, before believing that Sterling wasn't diving or being overly dramatic.
From this perspective, you apparently don't trust Sterling enough, to believe that he is an honest player.

I think he should have tried to stay on his feet, but he went down too easily for me. There was contact there, but it's a contact sport so the line 'there was contact at x, y, and z places on his body' makes no difference and doesn't prove anything. There's contact in the box between players waiting for a corner to be taken. Should the ref blow everytime before a corner and say 'fuck it I'm giving a pen because you've got your arm touching his!'

The fact there's contact means nothing. It's whether there was enough contact for him to fall over getting tens across the board for it.

Don't think WhyAlwaysHim realises football is a contact sport. What's wrong with calling a City player out for cheating? In my opinion, you're less of a City fan if you refuse to have an unbiased opinion. Cos that is what rags do.

For what my two penneth is worth.

For £44m I want a player who can shoot or pass with both feet. I get players will favour one foot over the other but a top professional footballer should be able to get a shot away with a weaker foot. He scored a lovely goal on the Tuesday after all with his left peg. Had Sterling took his man on for pace he would have skinned him and got a shot off. It seems his mantra is try to win a penalty over getting in a shot. Coming in on your right side is always going to bring the defender into play, running straight ahead will not.

I don't buy the contact argument either, what I look for is was the player fouled, in this case he was, he didn't need the theatrics and they probably didn't help his case.

Even the worst anti-City, or anti-Sterling pundits & match commentators didn't call Sterling's fall in the box, "a cheating dive"... However, we have supposedly loyal City fans here that ARE insisting that Sterling is a "dirty, cheating, diving cunt!"

This was NOT some perfectly-timed tackle from Ciaran Clark, that got both the ball, but also took down Sterling!... Clark made no attempt to get to the ball and only tried to stop Raheem with his leg & arm. Clark brought Sterling down in the box twice, in both the 29th & 37th minutes... the 2nd time was the more obvious penalty call.

If Raheem was a constant, diving cheat like Diego Costa, or Ashley Young, I'd happily join in with such name-calling... Instead, Sterling just got on with his game.

Why are City "fans" cursing Sterling for diving, while completely ignoring Gil's more obvious dive, which resulted in a yellow card for Otamendi and a free kick for Villa?!

I have to say I'm baffled by the ones who say" yes he was tripped, but he went down too easily/too theatrically, so he is a cheat"
It was a trip.
In the penalty area.
And I'm old school and don't buy the 'but there was contact' argument as a rule.
But he was tripped, in the penalty area.
A) it's a penalty
B) He's not a cheat.
In that instance.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

The otamendi foul was a joke for the record.

For me I think it should be a quite simple argument. If the contact forces you down/strops you its a foul. If you feel a scrape and fling yourself it's not. For me you shouldn't be asking why people are ignoring the villa one, but why people are ignoring the 6 or 7 other sterling ones this season.

I'm not saying he's ashley young yet. I'm saying he's a real danger of heading that way if he keeps throwing himself to the floor. That pisses me off and as Fidel said I've called them out on it for bloody years.
Tracking back is overrated.

Clark's left foot on Sterling's right foot.

Foul? Yes. Exaggerated fall? Yes. Penalty? Definitely.

He has got a habit of going down easily but fuck me if you can't see that was a pen you need your eyes testing.

Wonder why Pawson didn't book him?

Thanks for that pal, I got it wrong. Thought that the contact of feet was the issue and that's why I said he went down softly. Turns out he was still going on and it was the knee contact that took him down. Not soft, just a pen that the ref missed in between a few bodies.

I was wrong, but still right ;-)

I agree. I don't think Sterling is a 'cheating cunt' but he definitely went down too easily which didn't help I'd imagine when the ref was making his mind up.

It appears to me that less penalties are being given across the board, especially ones where there is minimal contact. Costa, Young and the other turds who are specialists in this 'art' are not getting the decisions they have been doing over the last few seasons. Whether this is a conscious effort by referees or the FA to clamp down on 'diving' it remains to be seen.

The point being, a penalty kick is less likely to be awarded this season, so in my mind, if there is an opportunity to get a shot off, rather than reacting to a minimal foul, then the player should go for it. Rather like Aguero has done. Obviously if a defender takes the opposition player out then that is a different matter. I'm talking about playing the percentages in that if you are clipped and you've the option of going down in an attempt to get a penalty, which in the current climate is not as likely to be awarded as previous years, or attempting to continue to get a shot off, then I would rather see our boys trying for the goal.

A decent referee may well have played an advantage and bring play back if he deems it worthy of a foul and a resultant penalty if the subsequent attack amounts to nothing. I shan't hold my breath on that, but it's a start
