Should footballers be allowed a drink

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The only problem I have with the whole story was fucking Carragher trying to put "blame" on the whole team for going to a night club instead of staying at the hotel bar and looking after him.

Like Shrek is some sort of special needs kid who needs constant care....oh wait, he might have a point.

Don't you think you're being a bit unfair ??

You could, at least, let them drink it when it's fresh :P :P :P

and warm

I don't want them to do anything to make them play better

Players should be allowed to have a drink but keep it real, high profile personalities and all that. It's not the eighties any more.

Professional sportsmen and women shouldn't drink more than the occasional glass out of season. It makes fuck all difference to a Sunday afternoon pub team but at those levels, it is all about tiny margins. They are paid handsomely and need to make sacrifices to reach the top. Being a pro isn't just a job, it's a way of life.

Back in the 70's you could get away with it. Players weren't as fit. Players if that era would be blown away by the pace and physicality of the modern game.

I see Shrek has been 'cleared' by the FA now

Maybe he was just pretending to be pissed?
Maybe they were fake photos?
Maybe he'd actually got up very early to take in the breakfast buffet before doing some extra early-morning training?

The only time I've ever taken alcohol accidently was when I was about 8 and I had one of those horrible liquor chocolates lying around at christmas.

And I reckon I would have been ok to drive.

Age aside.

You could eat about 10 boxes of those things.

Drunk accidentally indeed.

Genuine question as I'm allergic to the stuff, but what's the appeal and allure of alcohol all about ??

I've never been drunk so I just don't know.

Yes, after the first couple of drinks you feel like you're the king of the world. If you have a few too many, you tun into Arnie Grape.
And after a real bender, trying to puzzle together what actually happened last night is very much like Inception.

I'd be pissed if I couldn't drink for football.

City's back 3 or 4 look to have been on the piss recently. Not seen any drinking during the game though.
