i can get that our owners would want to be in a super league for the money, but to go to bed with teams in this country who wanted FFP to stop us and get us fined and not in the champs league is fucking a disgrace. and also both Barca and Real Madrid wanted us to be banned, but now we want to be in bed with them, Gary Neville is right its a disgrace and he cited man u Liverpool and arsenal are the worse teams, and where do the owners come from the USA
We should of said no we stick with our own league, but to go and play in a super league NO FA CUP NO LEAGUE CUP NO CHAMPS LEAGUE NO PREMIERSHIP, and any players won't be included in euros and world cup lets see how that passes out
and lets be honest if they only play 9 games at home how much would it cost to go to the games
i would be out

International football will mean fuck all to the players.

300k a week in the Super League or 40k a week with one of the left over clubs only to get knocked out of the an international tournament by Costa Rica or Iceland and everyone hate you?

They’re not proposing to withdraw from their respective league competitions. They may get kicked out but that’s a different matter. They want to replace the Champions League which most people here seem to hate with their own competition.

The EPL instantly becomes a B league the equivalent of the League Cup.

We'll field a team to fulfil the EPL TV contract. That's it.

We're going to get kicked out of this year's CL.

Can't say I blame them.

Then they have to declare PSG the winners as Real and Chelsea are the other semi finalists

Gary Neville is talking shit and he makes me sick.

All self righteous over this but the Glazers have been bleeding the Rags dry for years. I never heard any indignant rants from him over this or did I miss them?

Why did he not call the Glazers out instead of his sly digs at us over money during the past 10 years.

Then the fcuker talks about his disgust with Rags, Dippers and Arseholes over this because of their traditions. But as City and Chelsea are new money he sort of understands why they would go along.

An absolute prick.

Club statement incase anyone hadn't seen (can't see it posted already, apologies if I've missed it;

The death of football as we know it and a dreary worthless midweek competition. Guess it's one of those that we might have felt we just can't not be involved but just doesn't sit well to put it lightly.

Our owners have been pure class to date and now we are likened to the fucking Glazers et al

Sorry for this....it’s a bit long but I have come up with questions once calming down from my initial state on learning we were part of it all....

Why have the biggest well known clubs on the planet decided to go up against the juganaut of corruptness that is UEFA with a different competition.......an organisation we consider a corrupt cartel........do not let money cloud your judgement on this......the clubs that wanted us out of the CL have happily allowed us to join this new ‘elite’.....all of these clubs were earning big money outside of the pandemic.....so WHY were we not good enough 6 months ago yet we are best buddies now.......is this a case of “the enemy of our enemy is our foe..”....if that’s the case WHY do these huge clubs consider UEFA and their CL comp either the enemy or not fit for purpose...??....Why do we feel as a club we can make a real change for the better by joining this league...??

Have uefa outgrown themselves where the powerful clubs feel they can run an elite European competition better...??...therefore becoming a power struggle....

WHY have these clubs announced this a day or two before UEFA announce new plans for the CL...??...what is in these plans to provoke this kind of reaction.....now I understand a super league has been talked about for quite many years......and has always been shot down......so the pandemic can’t be blamed for it.....

If money is the motivation for all this....then who is gonna pay for it........????....tv companies.....advertisers......betting companies.........make no doubt about it there will have been lengthy talks with high rollers in the business world to fund all this and make it worthwhile.........therefore the likes of SKY BT NETFLIX AMAZON PRIME will have all been talked to......guaranteed.......never mind the hoardes of overseas tv companies.......the clubs involved are massive and have huge global fan bases.......the vast majority dont have any historical or geographical connection to the club they support so they don’t care what comp they are playing in they just want to watch them....

How do these clubs think they will survive if they are kicked out of their domestic competitions.....

How does the PL/Seria A/La Liga think it will survive by kicking these clubs out of their domestic comps..??

What do these clubs hope/think/plan the super league will eventually become if they don’t have support from the domestic FA’s..?....and where do they think it’ll go if they get backing from the same domestic FA’s..?

Please bear in mind all these questions will provoke answers that many will type out in an emotional way........my own initial reaction was one of utter contempt and disgust that my club could get into bed with those wankstick clubs we utterly dispise and everything they stand for........once I’d calmed down I started asking myself HOW and WHY could the club I love put themselves in this position.....and that’s when I started thinking that our multi-billionaire owners cannot be in it simply for the money........oh.....and that goes for all the owners......they are all multi-billionaires....there is a financial limit on how rich a club can get....remember not everybody supports the so-called big clubs otherwise there would only be big clubs......so apart from the emotional reaction that it’s all about money.....what’s the driving force behind it all........the decision from all these clubs to do this in the face of such public condemnation and potential financial suicide must be for reasons beyond just becoming richer....

Sensible and considers answers please cos we have to try and make some sense of what’s going on

Money and power are the drivers IMO.

All domestic leagues are now uncompetitive.
Spain it's Barca, Real and maybe Athi
Italy is Juve and sometimes the Milan clubs.
France is PSG.
Germany is B Munich.
PL is down to us and Chelsea. Maybe MU and Liverpool as well but both are struggling to keep up.
In addition the European leagues are falling way behind the PL. They cannot compete financially.

Remember the SL had three more places to fill. So PSG will join. The German clubs maybe not because they are owned by the fans. But I expect Munich to join.

So the SL will be competitive because the cash (there will be lots of it) will be evenly distributed between the clubs as it is not domestic league dependent. People will watch it. The fan bases now are global. Liverpool and MU have something like 700million fans each. The money is now in advertising, merchandise and TV. Very little to do with the home support anymore.

Also, no way are the domestic leagues going to let there cash cows walk away or throw them out. A compromise will be reached. Why?
Because at the end of the day it is all about the money.

UEFA is corrupt to the core. To preserve their power and keep their noses in the trough they have pandered to the big traditional clubs by cheating, match fixing, changing eligibility rules (like qualification and seeding), changing CL formats, FFP, etc... We have been victims to all of the above. Now the big clubs seem to be saying, fcuk you UEFA, we don't need you and we are taking all of the pie for ourselves.
If UEFA had done their job correctly and put football first, told the big clubs to stay in line, this may not have happened.

So fcuk UEFA.

It's not just UEFA though, the Prem wont sanction English club involvement because it weakens their 'product' - which means the English clubs will have to break away - which means we wont be involved in domestic action because the FA will also ban us from any domestic cup matches - whilst FIFA also ban all participating players from international matches.
Our owners are smart businessmen and dont do knee-jerk, but I can't see how they think this will be a success, unless they know something we dont.

Wait, WHAT?

What exactly is Champions's League and Europa League then? Fucking joke competitions and money making machines for crooked UEFA. These were set up instead of old classic European cup competitions with EXACTLY the same idea in mind.

What these clubs are doing is cutting off the pointless middle man called UEFA who add NOTHING as far as football goes but only bleed the money out. And also are change their rules to fit those who provide them the brown envelopes. It's not just WHO are IN but notice who are OUT. Namely Bayern who hold WAY too much power within UEFA.

I for one will be tulla supporting this move and am already thinking which other clubs will be in. I have to admit cutting PSG off is bit naughty from City.

I know this sounds unbelievable but it's true. I chatted with someone who is very high ranking member of FIFA few years back. He said that City were about to set this league up in a about five years. Seems to me that pandemic has speeded up the process.
