You genuinely wouldn’t consider Stones in our top 10 players this season?

How many clean sheets? It wasn’t all Dias.

It was mostly Dias. I can't even begin to explain how his movement and positioning covered lot of Stones errors and gave him the liberty to do what I suppose he does best ie throw himself in for 50/50 challenges.

I completely disagree with your evaluation of Stones (this season). He has made goal saving blocks, last ditch important tackles and even scored important goals. His whole demeaner has changed and that owes a lot to his own personal growth and development. He has really pulled himself back from the dead in terms of his City career and that isn't all Dias. Forming that great partnership has obviously been a huge factor, but a partnership isn't just one person. The way he plays from the back also helps set the tempo for the way we play and his rejuvenation has been pivotal in our amazing run this season, particularly as Laporte had suffered his own dip and Ake was injured.

He can't do his thing unless there's someone covering for him. in those 1-on-2 situations Dias drops back and let's Stones shine whereas before when he missed those tackles, which he has done this season as well, there was no one covering for him. Pretty basic centerback work really. Stones has 13 most tackles in the team and has 13 blocks to Dias' 19. Dias has twice as many headed clearances and, again, twice as many clearances. And suprisingly enough Dias has twice as many intercepted passes as well. I probably should mention that Dias leads the whole league in completed passes and is #5 in touches.

I think it's pretty obvious that Dias' fantastic work this season has been the key to Stones improving his level to "acceptable". But one of the best players on this team? Absolutely not.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I remember we were shitting our bed with Brighton, Maupay was almost solo with Eddy at 1-0, then comes long dick Stones with an incredible block. One of the best I've seen all season.

Stones is really overall a fantastic defender when he is fit mentally, super fast for his height and imho, better than Laporte. But again, when he is mentally fit.
Remember that title winning save vs Scouse.

1 - Foden
2 - Dias
3 - Gündogan

It is a hard call and I know that a lot will disagree - if not about the top 3 - their order.

Some people might forget the start of the season and how we did not look quite as imperious as we became - and it was absolutely Dias that was the reason that we came to leave out defensive frailties behind

Gündogan has been a revelation given the chance to operate in a slightly different role and he carried us through the middle part of the season - but I always thought he was capable of what he has shown

Foden gets it for me for a number reasons - yes his performance throughout the year, but also how he has developed through the year to reach the point now where he must be considered to be one of the first names on the team sheet by everyone. He deserves all the plaudits he gets and he is going to be a world class star for us for many years

Last night again, vintage. What a player. Hope he takes up #4 shirt next season and with Vinny and him we could create this "famous City number 4's" legacy.

Dias for me, I can see him commanding our defence for another 10 years. He'll only get better next season.

Dias for me. Phil and Gundo have been great also but Rueben has transformed our defense and by extension the whole team.

Dias.
We have just played against the supposed best 3 strikers in the world (Haaland, Kane, Mbappe) and none of them had a shot! That’s pretty special. Can you image that happening a couple of seasons ago. Oh and also for the Zinchenko incident

I wonder if Dias will be in the running for the Ballon d'or. Vvd was in 2019 when they won the CL but lost out to Messi. Dias could end up with 3 pots and Messi hasn't operated at the same level this season.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

Unfortunately the answer is no. We don’t have a lot of African and Asian “experts” on social media to push this.

Just had a look at the top 20 rundown on goal.com based on performance and we have 4 in there. 12 - Dias, 11 - Foden, 6 - Gundo and 4 - Kdb.
Top 3 are Lewandowski, Messi and Mbappe is top.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

Went for Phil Gundo & Diaz All been excellent

Phil I think will get YPOTY
Diaz because he has turned our season upside down
and gundo because he's gundo and scored some goals when we needed them
but I think that all 3 should be in the team of the year

Should the unthinkable happen and we win league and ucl, having already won the Man City Cup, would there be any chance the media will recognise his achievements, or will they still bang the vvd drum?

It's mainly a rhetorical question
