That post.

I literally said in my post that some players would have been angry.
I was answering the point that it didn't affect the season as we won the league by a mile.

The 81 points the year before would have won it some years- it's just us and liverpool had set the bar massively high in our 2 prrevious wins and theirs last year.
Which ever way you look at it, it didn't affect the outcome of the league due to that unbelievable run from December.

I think squad psychology is extremely important at the level we're at (the absolute top). When it clicks you reach that 100% and above (our 98 points and centurion season and Liverpool's close runs). When it doesn't you drop your edge and end up at a "normal" 80–90 point season.
I think underperforming in the league last year and the travesty against Lyon had a huge impact. That was, imo, a big part of why we started so poorly. Pep (and Fern) did a great job to turn that around.
I fear a similar hangover next season, mainly because of the CL loss (but we might also have had a problem with motivation if we'd won both the PL and the CL) . That's why I think it might be a good idea to mix things up a bit and get 2–3 new players in and let a few out. Precisely who, is probably of less importance.

I’m still waiting for Mendy leaving. He destroyed us all with that one

''Fernandhino's influence on the Manchester City dressing room should certainly not be underestimated, with several of his teammates crediting his leadership for the remarkable turnaround in form midway through the campaign"
Id point to that for our turnaround in form rather than Baldie getting all the credit.

Saw him a few times about 5 yrs back against Chelsea (twice) Reading and Fulham for U18/ EDS, was OK, nothing spectacular, Nmecha on the other hand was great, but think he's evolved with age and hit a plateu?

Grimshaw was loaned out to Hemel Hempstead, who were in the 6th or 7th tier at the time, a couple of seasons ago. He's a Manchester lad, and I doubt (although I can't be sure) that it was for family/personal reasons. So he seems to have totally dropped off the radar. He was at Lommel last season (who we own), who finished mid-table in the Belgian second tier, where he only featured 10 times, all in the second half of the season. I seem to remember Doug rating him highly at one point, although you'd have to trawl the EDS thread to see exactly how long ago that was.
I think it's Lukas who was the higher-rated of the Nmecha brothers. He's still got another year on his contract, and did well at Anderlecht this season.
