But specialist goalkeeping analyst John Harrison, who has a Cambridge astronomy PhD, believes the City keeper could have done more to keep out the strike during the enthralling 4-3 win for the home side at the Etihad Stadium
On his Twitter account, Harrison broke down step-by-step how Ederson could have better dealt with Vinicius after he made his way into the City penalty area.
He wrote: 'Ederson is usually exceptional vs close range 1v1s but he was uncharacteristically weak vs Vini.
'Ederson correctly holds deep for Vini’s first touch in the box but he needs to start closing the space once Vini takes the second touch! Waiting till the third touch is too late!'
Harrison's analysis has earned rave reviews recently, most notably from Sky Sports
Let's dig Sir Patrick Moore up and ask him as well while we are at it.
That goal was right infront of me last night in the Etihad 121 , Ederson simply gave Vinicus a huge angle to score it was terrible keeping . If he had came off his line just a couple of yards the angle would have been closed down instead of the yawning gap that was left . Edersons decision making is all over the place of late which is costing us soft goals .
Some fans just refuse to take off their fucking blue tinted specs to admit the fucking obvious .
Ederson was fucking shit yesterday
So, is Ederson shit or did he have a bad game? There is a difference between being shit and being out of form. Im happy to accept hes not on top form but that's normal for goalkeepers to go through bad patches and even a season before regain form.
