You get £32.2 million in prize money alone just for reaching the last 16, and TV money on top of that.

Read my latest post after that one. If you win it then you get roughly €80m total.

Wish him all the best

He was a decent player for us but he didn’t quite live up to the potential he showed in his first six months. That happens. It’s part and parcel of football.

But he seemed a popular guy and we never heard of any adverse publicity from either him or the club during his time here. But he wasn’t quite good enough to be the guy we could rely on to score like Kun was or hopefully Haaland will be. But he did a good job and his versatility in being able to operate on the flanks and in the channels was a bonus.

Time will tell whether he has made the right move but everyone is wise with hindsight. At this moment in his career maybe playing regularly and being the focal point is what he needs. He probably won’t win a trophy there but maybe he will do well enoug( to get a move to a club that challenges in the future

In prize money. That doesn't include TV earnings or the coefficient payment, which would take the top team from the top league with the highest UEFA coefficient to possibly closer to £140 million in total payments from UEFA if they won. Example: Bayern netted €130m - or £116m - in 2020 for winning, when they finished 1st in the 3rd-best league by coefficient, and having the 4th-best club coefficient of teams participating in the CL.

However, that's immaterial for a team like Arsenal. Getting 3 wins and a draw in the group stage and being eliminated in the last 16 would net them around £40-42 million a season in revenue from UEFA, plus matchday revenue (although all of these games are included in their ST price, I believe). Having a rolling 5-year net spend of £150 million makes sound financial sense, providing the strategy pays off and they finish in 4th place.

According to the media - Gab is “one of the best” and a “proven Premier League striker”.

He’s not played up front for City for a while and only got over ten Prem goals in two of his seasons with us. I don’t remember this praise when he was wearing blue..

I reckon they can achieve that themselves without the need of help from our Carl

Gabby, albeit a great lad, is a bit like some of the academy young lads we offloaded recently.
Great lads, just not good enough to make it with us, but good enough to have decent careers at lower clubs, such as Arsenal, Southampton, Man Utd etc.
Arsenal is his real level.
