Makes the contract pointless if he has 50m release clause. All we have gained is bernardo getting a pay increase for a year. Even if we kept him(not that anyone could afford him) we would have got at least 50m next summer.
That aside, great news to have him stay, my money is on him being our player of the year this year.
Not at all pointless, the new contract will assuredly benefit both parties. The existence of any release clause, its value, its timing, its terms of payment etc are all unknowns and will likely remain so unless Silva leaves before 2026. The wishful thinking of Barca & PSG client media will no doubt continue but only as a source of amusement or irritation depending on our mood.
