We changed the way we were playing & started trying to force the game rather than just knocking the ball around. Chelsea created one real chance in the whole game which they scored & that could have been stopped easily if yaya had just bothered to jog 10 yards.

We are a much better team than Chelsea but imo we are better than Bayern & Napoli too & we found a similar way to lose to both of them. If we pass the ball; we win. If we stop doing it, we struggle.

Why didn't Mancini sub yaya and/or Milner ? why ffs !!

Silva was even worse than those 2 imo. I'm not sure it would have solved any problem. The whole team seemed to change mentality & keep looking for match winning passes rather than just moving the ball around. We had a period of ball retention when down to ten & the same thing happened; we just stopped doing it, deserted midfield & left the defenders with the ball & nowhere to go. We did the same at Bayern & Napoli; running past the ball & getting caught on the break yet we are the away team. Don't understand it.

You're all just a bunch of reactionaries. Carl ftg has it correct.

Chelsea got lucky, give them the points rather than united.

I knew it wasn't going to be our night when Clattensh*t didn't give us the penalty.

No one else to blame but that useless git.

It's got the imperious , not lost a game tag monkey off our backs.

If Clattenburg makes the correct decisions in the first half, its a totally different game. It was a Homer display I thought, and I seriously doubt we would have got the same handball decision at the other end. That said, it was a pen.

Too many big playes not on blob for us tonight though, Ya Ya poor, Silva under par, Milner under par, Aguero (aside from the first 2 mins) very poor. Thought Barry our MOTM and Kompany still not playing anything like as assured as last year. Seems intent on leaving his feet and also lost his cool when Mata nutmegged him which leads me to believe the latter may have yelled "Taxi" as he went on his way.

First time this season Clichy's looked really poor, getting beat for the first goal and two silly yellows resulting in a deserved red. Had Meireles seen Red 30 mins earlier though, the whole game ould likely have panned out different.

Congrats to Chelsea on winning the league this evening ... whats that? They are 7 points behind us? Cool. Over the season they are no big threat and we will finish 10 plus points north of them; the real threat comes from you know where, and the press will have a wank-a-thon when they beat QPR and take over at the top next sunday for a few hours. A good solid home win putting Arsenal back in their box, is needed next sunday. Over to you City.

spot on mate.

I'm actually quite left wing.

But, seriously, Chelsea got lucky because we fell into disarray, too. We can't keep becoming morose when we don't flatten teams, which is becoming a bit too regular again - though until tonight, not in the Premier League. Fortunately, I think we will bounce back ion Sunday because we have a lot of pride in the team nowadays.

Just a quote from ESPN:

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas had a different opinion, stating that Silva should have been booked for diving.

Clattentwat stopped us from being 2-0 up against 10 men. After that our downfall was partly of our own making and partly due to Chelsea's organisational ability. We aren't invincible, we already knew that from the CL. We are however the best team in the Premier League this season and should have the confidence to reassert that on Sunday.

1. Played great for 25 minutes, then went flat.
2. Brilliant by Sturridge to set up their goal.
3. Didn't trouble Cech in the second half, Chelsea bossed it even before the red card.
4. Clattenberg made three big decisions that hurt City but they weren't as bad as Foy's against Spurs on Sunday.
5 The one he got completely wrong was when one of their's (Mata?) ran into Silva and got the free kick - Silva was laughing at how ridiculous it was.
6 through 10: hammer Arsenal.

One positive: I had a great stream.
We're still moving forward, getting better. How many teams would have to concede a penalty to lose to Chelsea at home with ten men?
One day we'll really become ruthless and murder a big team. May be Sunday.

I was still left with the feeling, even after not playing well for most of the game ,that we are a better side than Chelsea and that a defeat like this was going to happen. For some reason Chelsea went back to playing a high defensive line and went to take the game to City.Big mistake and we could have been 3 up by the time they changed tactics.

But when they did we seemed lost. Of course we should have had penalty and Mereiles or whatever his name is should have seen red but we did seem to lose our way once they sat back and invited us on. We did seem to try to force it a little too much and Yaya, who is so often key to things in terms of dictating the game, didn't have a good game and gave the ball away too often.Silva was fairly anonymous so we lost our attacking threat. The question was could we hold out and to be fair we were never under great threat and a little unlucky with the pen(even though it was an ok decision.)

Ah well getting back to winning ways is now essential and it will have to be done with Zaba at left back and Micah at right back.No problem.

I'm not morose or reactionary at all, I'm a City fan talking about the pros and cons of City on a fucking football forum. I look at ways we can improve when we win & I look at ways we can improve when we lose.

There is a word for football supporters who are incapable of discussing things like that & only kissing the arse of the team & blaming refs for every setback even when they fuck up themselves ; rags. Lets not become them.

We made a rod for our own backs tonight & there were a lot of things we can improve on. The sending off was fully justified & absolutely fucking stupid & Vinny should have walked beforehand for an equally fucking stupid foul. Lescott had his hands above his fucking head in the penalty area not in font of his face= fucking stupid. Silva had fucking ages to shoot before the 'pen' but arsed around & wasted the opportunity. Aguero got into a great position to score & totally missed the target. Yaya kicked out at a player on the floor & we've seen red cards for the same. He also tried to rake their player because he was too lazy to fucking run after him. Could easily have been red. Silva went missing. Yaya Toure went missing. We were totally wrong tactically when 1-0 up.

All of these things will be going through Bob's mind & more besides. He won't be sat on his arse smoking a fucking pipe saying everything's fine he'll be saying 'we must improve' .

Isn't that what this place is for ; to talk about things we do right and also ways we can improve the things we do wrong or is it just purely an arse licking exercise?

Perhaps we could get comical Ali to come on here and tell us we are pounding them.

I think we'll win the league. I also think we're playing some big games at 50% of what we're capable of.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it, but here is a silver lining for you Ted.

15 games into the season, 4 short of halfway, and we've now played 4 of the top 5(excluding ourselves) all at their grounds....and we're top.

I've been mentioning it all season actually; I look at the season on a head to head basis; games we should win, games we think we may lose. Today was one of the latter as was the scouse. The Fulham result is the stinker rather than this one. I saw nothing special in Chelsea tonight which says the rags can't beat them though. We were taking the piss out of them & on for another 5 goal job until we stopped playing. They weren't especially good & created almost nothing,

We are still well up on the rags at the moment but previous capitulations by all these gutless wonders tell us that we will have to continue to do it ourselves. We can't rely on any of these people not to cave in v rags, no matter how they play.

Tried not to come here after the game. Needed time to cool down.
Don't understand what the ref was doing for this game. Doesn't matter anymore though.

Hopefully we smash Arsenal now.

Composure is the best word I can use to describe that game. We had it, then completely lost it. What was with all the longball ? We gave away a pen because we lost our composure and invited the pressure.

Here's a thought. Who is going to play left back against Walcott on Sunday? We are exposed my friends. Keep the money in the wallets lads. This next game is going to be very very difficult.
