Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Did anyone think that the City 11 which started that game would be capable of playing the kind of pass & move football we usually play, against a packed midfield ? I saw the team & thought we would struggle to do anything. In fact, Liverpool were so shite we still managed to create a simple chance just by charging head 1st into the box.

I don't know what the fuck Bob was thinking of with that team. It had long ball English style shite written all over it. Second half we played football & they were just like a Championship siude hanging on but we'd already given them a goal start (two if not for Joe) thanks to Sideshow Bob, who has had the worst start to a City CB career since Darren Wassell.

I hope Bob isn't going to get stubborn & keep playing him as it will cost us the title if he does.

Why the fuck did he bring on that useless twat Kolarov when we were having our best spell of the match ?

Terrible management tonight.

But we just never looked like scoring did we? And it was the same against Sunderland and West Brom. The football was nice but there was no feeling of inevitability that we would score. That is why we need a plan b and we need some wingers.

Agree with most of that Ted. Bit confused though re the reference to long ball english style! That would have needed Dzeko up top.With Mario and Aguero I cant think of a much worse pairing to play long ball to.

Looking back i thought the 4 best players for City tonight were English. Micah was immense and I thought Barry,Milner and Joe do well. Milner more because of effort than anything else though.

Savic a disaster as was Kolarov. Aguero much better 2nd half but missed a few chances where I expected better.AJ anonymous in the attacking part although he did pick up a bit in the 2nd half. Mario will probably be excused if an injury is blamed but I don't buy that at all.He wasnt with it end of.

A couple of half chances here and there. But there was never any sort of barrage or assault on the Liverpool goal. We never had them on the rails.

Match was shit with an even worse atmosphere.

But Carroll. How funny is he? They should get him some clown shoes and one of those bow ties that spin round. Some of the headers in the second half were hilarious

We've got the ability to beat them on their own patch, even with the same team we fielded tonight.
The problem is the ref tonight wasn't a homer, and gave us zip.

The 'referee' in the league game was one of the worst homers I've ever seen:
somebody in the crowd shouts 'hand ball' when it hits Milner high on the chest,the clown gives them a free-kick, for 'hand'ball;
Reina wanders about 10 yards outside the area and clearly handles the ball to control it and to deny us a perfect goal-scoring opportunity: no problem, 'the officials' get simultaneously struck down by a temporary blindness;
Balotelli the softest two-yellow red card you'll ever see!,.....

I could go on!

We have just played 4 games in 11 bastid days and won the most important one...people seem to forget just how fucked most of our players are right now.

Wigan win is more important than today's games and spuds is just as important as the return leg at Thieves-ville.

I meant that the way it was lined up was almost like a 4-2-4 (which is happening far too often imo) where we had 2 midfield players, & 4 people, up front 30 yards away. When the two midfieldrs are Barry & Nige, there is a long ball (or more likely a pass straight to the oppo) in the offing every time we get posession because either they will get stuck or pass it back to defenders, who in the end, will have to lump it. If we had John Fashanu up front, last nights side would have been perfect for him. We don't.

Imo it stank. It looked to me as if Bob set the team up to prove to Marwood that we need to sign DeRossi, rather than to win the game.

2nd half incidentally, when AJ moved inside (as I keep advocating) he was excellent & we were totally dominant & looking like we would nick a goal. He and Nasri were starting to link up with Aguero & we looked fine; as good as any side would against a back 11.
Taking him off was ludicrous.

C'mon City!!!

Dejong hsn't had the games, you don't become a bad player overnight, people should cut him some slack - there always has to be a scapegoat it seems. Savic started badly but stuck with it - he will learn and will need to quite quickly we should get behind the lad.

We did lack leadership Hansen was right about that, he was also right in other respects - right up Gerrards arse in fact. The BBC are meant to be unbiased, that interviewer told Gerrard that Mancini was moaning about the Johnson tackle - a loaded statement. Mancini said he'd like to see it again thats all. Credit to Shearer who actually kind of pointed it out moments later.

I'm fucking angry tonight on a number of levels, not least with the bbc but we are still in it and we are lucky to have that chance cos the dippers shoud be out of reach.

What a smug fucking cunt Hansen is. I would like to kick his teeth in, but judging from the way he's slurring it seems that someone's beaten me to it.

Not seen the BBC recording but in the flesh, Gerrard looked to me like a player at the end of his career. He's certainly not the player he was, even if our inept 1st half tactics may have played into his hands. He never used to get beaten to the ball by Gareth Barry, as he did 2nd half.

I agree, but Hansen obviously didn't. He was creaming his pants talking about Gerrard being back like the second coming of Jesus.
