Would I have liked him too stay, yes. Am I overly bothered he's gone, no. He is a very clever self publicist as he is now moving to his 5th club with no doubt another big signing on fee, but because he "put in a shift" he will never be labelled as a bit of a money chasing mercenary, which he so obviously is.
Im sure if it was just money we would of won that battle.

Sorry to see Milner leave but let's get some facts about his departure. Firstly Milner was offered a 3 year deal by City worth 'up to' 165k a week. That's not 165k basic, more like 125k basic plus bonus, which is in line with most of the City team. Even if he realised his 165k every week that's about 26 million over 3 years, if he's signed a 4 year deal at Anfield at 120k a week, that's about 25 million over a 4 year period. Plus of course, Milner will be receiving a substantial signing on fee from Liverpool which will probably take his contract upwards of 30 million. But hey, it's not about the money for James, it's about forming a midfield trio of Henderson, Milner and Allen, scary!
