They were superb, everyone knew what everyone was doing then some dick thinks I know let's change it. What I want my defenders to do first and foremost is to defend, it seems now in this day and age that that's not the important bit, it's can he play from the back? What's the point of playing from the back if he can't get the basics of defending right and we keep conceding goals. How many is that this season so far?? I'm not a big fan of Nasty, far to laid back for me. Bring back lescott and get Kompany fit or our season will be over by jan. Oh and I would also call Real and enquiry about their sub goalie.

The idea that Lescott would instantly bring Barca's passing game to a shuddering halt if he replaced Mascherano, or put a spanner in Bayern's passing machine if he replaced Boateng, is so laughable, yet people have been quoting this kind of nonsense for years on here; that we can't pass the ball if he plays. Mancini spent a long time building that title winning defence but he & the Count have spent as long destroying it. I notice now, when Vinny & JL do play together, they no longer have the understanding they once had; where Lescott would attack the ball or make a tackle & Vinny sweep up behind, take the loose ball etc. Or Vinny would track a runner so Lescott could go for the player with the ball etc. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes it falls apart. Plus Lescott is rusty as fuck due to lack of games.

It's a tragedy, but I will be surprised if we ever see that quality of backline with those players again, as 1st Mancini & then the Count, decided to work on something else other than their partnership. They would have to really start working on it again in order to get it back, & it appears Lescott is not wanted, so it's unlikely they will work on it 100%, even if he plays.

Simple fact is that Lescott & Vinny are the best defenders we have available anyway though, even in a badly drilled dodgy backline, so they should play the big games whenever possible.

The Count says he is going to end the mistakes though, so let's see what he does & what he is made of.

I don't care who plays so long as he fixes it.
