Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Mossad know all about me; I used to live within spitting distance of Maine Road. Friendliest place I ever lived.

I like Brian Kidd and the people I know who've met/who know him speak very highly about him - blues, neutrals and darksiders. He's been very committed to us since he came (I'm too young to remember his playing days) and I'd be happy for him to stay on.

NQDP, I've grown to like you a lot over my time on this board and really appreciate your thoughts on City and football. That said, when ever something ground-shifting happens at City you turn into the football equivalent of an intellectual bully, for which I can't think of an appropriate term. You shouldn't be telling people that they should be ashamed of expressing opinions a, b and c. We're all on the same side here. Let people have their reasons for liking Kiddo, for rating Shrek as a footballer if not as a human being, and - going back a bit - for wanting Hughes to be given more time. You've got your reasons for supporting City despite being from Finland, and I bet you've (quite rightly) grown sick of explaining why you do since September 2008.

I hope you settle down a bit when the new manager comes in because I look forward to looking forward to your posts again.

Not really. He's just gone slightly wappy and been all over the board for 24 hours! I sort of get it as I liked Mancini too but to me he's picking fights that don't need to be had.

I grew up round the corner from Kiddo, saw him around a lot, helped me once while fitting a spare right outside his house one time. Sweet guy like he comes across in interviews. The fact that he has both played and been part of the management of both Manc clubs without any long term rancour or bad feeling says it all about him. A gent is the correct word and anyone who dislikes him cos he was at the rags is both ignorant and evidently stuck up their own arse. Ring any bells?
Kidd would be fine running the show for a while even a season if needs be while we get the right manager. As we know he isn't so comfortable taking the burden on and fronting it all so long term wouldn't be his thing I don't think.

Awww poor Brian, mind that pretty much is our backroom staff, with Scott Sellars and Dave Felgate thrown in to make up the numbers - wonder if Mancini nicked all his fruit pastilles?

Ok. I admit it, I was bit on a wind up with whole Kidd thing. Shits and giggles, twisted sense of humour and all that. I'll admit it. However I don't think I've been bullish as such. Bridge'sLeftFoot..... well he's just someone I simply don't agree with on just about anything to do with football (I mean he thought Bridge had a sweet enough left peg to name himself after it for fucks sake!) but I don't have axe to grind with him even after want went down under his previous Username. All water under the bridge now and it wasn't me who he really offended back then.

But as I genuinely like you as a poster I take your word for it and try not to wind people up on this sensitive situation.

I really like Kidd, everytime I watch those tunnel cam videos I notice how friendly he is with every single member of staff. Always takes the time to shake their hands and say hello to them.

I reckon he's one of the few people who could walk into a pub full of city fans then pub full of scum fans and get a great reception from both.

Sums him up. Doubt there's a man in football who'll say a bad word about him. I really have no idea what he does behind the scenes or how much influence he has but he always comes across well, reasonable and is someone who knows the club very well. Hope he stays on board.

Christ you are a misery. Kidd is far from a twat.

Big fan of Kiddo, hope he stays at the club. Dont like Platt one little bit. Never have, never well. I suspect he will go wherever mancini goes.

Kidd by a mile over platt.

Brian was a superb footballer who played with distinction for City. He's also a true Gentleman and a Mancunian in the best sense of both words.

If the owners are looking for a holistic approach it would be a crime to get rid of Brian.

Well we could have Denis Law and Matt Busby stands according to some logic.

We also let them use Maine Road after OT was bombed during the war.

They owe City a lot and maybe even fergie realises this.

I hope the new manager, whoever he may be, keeps Kidd on as part of the back room staff

From the MEN:

Brian Kidd will lead City into Sunday’s final game at Norwich with a 100 per cent record, making him the Blues’ most successful manager in history! Not that Kiddo will be putting that on his illustrious CV just yet, after one game played. The Collyhurst lad has been made caretaker manager of the Blues, looking after the first team following the departures of Roberto Mancini and his second-in-command David Platt. And that was a popular move, as was probably evident from the spirited and carefree way which the players turned on the style to win 2-0 at Reading on Tuesday night. M.E.N. Sport understands that Kidd will survive the cull of Mancini and his staff which is ongoing, and that he will be recommended to incoming boss Manuel Pellegrini as a useful asset. He was drafted in as Mancini’s assistant in that role, to give advice and support to a foreign manager who was not au fait with the club, the country and the culture. But Mancini brought in his own coaching team, shifting his confidante Platt in alongside Kidd as another assistant manager, and you often got the feeling that Kidd was extraneous to Mancini’s wants. Not that a genuine man like Kidd would ever indicate as much. He continued doing his job, and earned the respect of the players and staff, even as the troubled waters around him welled up into a storm surge at times. An insight into his selfless character was revealed when he gave his reaction to being asked to hold the fort in the wake of Mancini’s sacking. “I was asked to take charge for two games, and, being a Manchester lad, I couldn’t say no,” Kidd admitted. “I wouldn’t have been able to walk down Market Street if I had.” Kidd was a counterfoil to Mancini’s confrontational management style, and perceived aloofness. It is to be hoped that the new manager will recognise that as well as being a useful ally and adviser, Kidd is also a consummate football man, with a deep well of knowledge and experience about the game, and the Manchester game in particular. Kidd is also one of those men who help to glue a football club together, along with much-loved characters like kit man Les Chapman and life president Bernard Halford. But it is easily forgotten that he played a big part in United’s rise to their current status, firstly as a youth coach who helped to develop their successful junior set-up, and then as assistant to Alex Ferguson. It did not appear that Mancini was utilising all of that talent, preferring to mix with long-time pal Platt and the Italians he brought with him, and who are now expected to follow him out of the door. Pellegrini has a reputation as an intelligent man with a keen eye for good character – if that is the case, and Kiddo wants it, he should be an asset to City for the foreseeable future.
