I agree with this Ted - this is not the time for pettiness or 'cutting our nose off' etc - the calm thing to do would be:

a) step up the search for a quality replacement (I have always been keen on Dzeko - think he would be perfect for prem)

b) sell Tevez strictly on our terms - for the right price and not some 'deal' a la Robbie and Bellers

c) pick Carlos until the deal(s) are done

That is the professional and reasoned approach - if someone is not going to be professional let it be the other party - if Carlos refuses to play then we can apply discipline then - I am sure that we would have the upper hand if at such a point we dock him his wages - but he cannot move on because we have his registration for 3 1/2 more years

Agree with both of you

AND....if Tevez has really been unsettled since August then, I have to say, fair play to him for turning in some bloody great, committed performances this season.

If we play ball with Carlos, communicate with him and agree that we will work together to arrive at the best solutions for all parties (and that does not mean a Robinho/Bellamy nonsense deal but could maybe ultimately be a player/cash swap with Real or Barcelona or Atletico) then I am pretty sure he would continue to be professional.

I think we have seen the evidence that playing pure hardball or corralling him into a corner is not going to work in our best interests on this

Again like many, I've dipped in and out of the thread over the last two days, so apologies if this has been mentioned.

When Tevez' statement mentions "certain individuals", whilst we think this is aimed in the main at Cook and Marwood, could it also be aimed at some of the players?

Lets not forget, it was only a fortnight or so ago that Kolo came out and criticised the attitude of certain individuals at the club, especially when training. Have a nucleus of players at the club had a word with Tevez and maybe Ade and tried to cajole them into getting involved more and they've spat the dummy?

If you look at Micah Richards Twitter thing, it would appear they have know of what is going on, and they are moving forward as a collective already.???

Just a thought

BTW any thoughts on 'doing something' to Cook and Marwood are really off the mark - they are probably more important than Bobby and certainly far more important than any individual player

Players can come and go, but the type of business plan that the Sheik is seeking to implement at CITY and the with FFP rules coming in calls for top quality and continuity at the executive level, we have what I consider to be not only the best in the PL but a long long way ahead of the 2nd best. We must become a top club implementing a strategic vision if we are to sustain ourselves for many years to come. Changing at the top now would be the reactive manner of the Liverpools and Newcastles of the world.

A lot of people compare us to Chelski - that for me is an insult to the Sheik, Khaldoon, Cook and Marwood - Abramovich has only operated at a shallow level - buying and buying more 1st team stars - he has done little to the strategic infrastructure of the club and is only recently (needs must) reacting to getting in young talent - CITY will surpass Chelski in the next couple of seasons (at most) and then leave they way behind - particularly in the revenue generation stakes

I've said all along that we just support laundry. Players come and players go but what always remain are the club and the fans. This is just another example of the the tail wagging the dog and it shouldn't be allowed. The scum caved in to shreks demands and more fool them. Let tevez go, as long as he pays us the rest of his contract and we insert a previso that he doesn't play in Europe for the next five years unless we get a huge sum because, i can guarentee that he will turn up at Barca or Madrid within 6 months if we don't be careful.

ALL MODERN DAY PLAYERS ARE SPOILT LITTLE BRATS WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

It hurt's at the moment, feels like being dumped by a girlfriend just when you thought things were going well. And with that comparison comes the fact that in two months we'll have someone new and will wonder what the fuck all the crying was about.

Yawn... This will have mostly blown over by the Everton game.

Either he will have his new contract and Kia Picanto will have negotiated himself a few mil with an extended contract for Tevez (a plan directly borrowed from the desk of Mr Paul Stretford)

or

City will look to January and we'll all be wondering which tempramental superstar we'll be signing next month?

Either way we'll have a damn good striker who will bang in the goals for us on the pitch and appear in the papers to be so unhappy at being given all the money in the world off the pitch.

I strongly suspect that Tevez will be playing at Lansdown Road in May... You may quote me on this if I am wrong, but either way I couldnt care less?

It's a pretty regrettable action, but if it IS for the purposes of being close to his family, then you can't really begrudge him a move. Contrary to what the Rags say about him, Tevez seems a genuine bloke. Who wants to leave a team who are right in the thick of things in the title race?

He's going about things the right way. He's not doing a Rooney- handing in a transfer request, tests his market value, sees no-one else is interested in him and then conveniently "pledges his future" to ManUre.

What do you guys think about him? Would you hold him in great esteem should he leave in January, or would you despise him for moving so publically?

I suspect he is, I seriously suspect Kia has tried to renegotiate terms, he has been told no dealings will be made during the season, so he is trying to force a new deal by handing in a transfer request knowing that the club cannot rely on Ballotelli or Adebayor and they have nobody else. I also believe this is where the theory comes from that relationships have broken down with Cooke and Marwood. Rooney tried and succeeded, Kia knows he has us over a barrel and so is taking a gamble that has little risk to himself.

(either way kia gets a cut of renegotiation or transfer fee?)

Forget families, forget football, I honestly think this is all about money.

He's gambling that either City will offer him a load more money or someone like Real Madrid will offer a load more money. If that doesn't happen he may suddenly decide he's arsed about his family & go home or he may do a U turn & decide he prefers to continue to earn money & play football. Whatever he says, his family will just have to fit in with what he decides. He has enough money to retire. He could have done that last Tuesday & gone home to his family. He hasn't, because he's after more money.

I recon Gary Cook is trying to rid the club of people like Kia & Ian Wright. I think that Tevez has picked Kia's side & was hoping the Sheikh would fire Gary Cook & give Kia what he was asking for. So far that hasn't happened & I hope it doesn't.
