“If Manchester City supporters are firing back, it’s because we refuse, as Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News so eloquently put it, to “play the sad clowns that the deluded circus demand.”

And let’s be clear: this entire legal process, together with the relentless outrage from partisan media and punditry, has become a circus that stinks to high heaven.

Before Sheikh Mansour bought Manchester City in 2008, the Cartel was firmly in control of English football. The established Incumbent Four had won 15 of 16 Premier League titles. They occupied every Champions League qualification spot for three consecutive seasons. City had won none.

Then City emerged as a genuine challenger to the established order, thanks to an owner with the resources necessary to compete with the Incumbent Four.

And suddenly, protecting football’s “financial sustainability” became the great crusade.

Shockingly, the rules that emerged—tying permissible spending to existing commercial revenue—overwhelmingly favored the Incumbent Four. The clubs that had spent decades building their financial advantages could continue spending accordingly. Challengers seeking to close the gap would face an entirely different set of constraints.

The established order had built its advantage. Now the rules would help preserve it.

In March 2019, the Premier League, with Richard Masters serving as interim CEO, opened an investigation into whether City had violated its financial rules. Masters would later become the League’s permanent CEO through an appointment process reportedly influenced by United and Liverpool.

Nearly four years later, on February 6, 2023, in the midst of what would become City’s historic treble-winning season, the Club was formally charged. The timing alone raises legitimate questions about the influence of partisan interests within the League.

The commission tasked with hearing the charges was then constituted under the authority of a Judicial Panel chair appointed through a process involving Masters and the Premier League.

And so the cloud hanging over City continued for an absurdly long time.

Finally, on September 29, 2026, we received a guilty verdict.

But that verdict came with a few rather extraordinary asterisks.

First, we don’t get to know who actually rendered the verdict. The identities of the commission members remain undisclosed.

Second, we don’t get to see the underlying evidence the commission supposedly analyzed—at least not yet.

Instead, we’re given a 40-page, heavily redacted decision setting out the commission’s findings, while the evidence underlying those findings and the supporting appendices remain outside public scrutiny.

We’re simply expected to accept on blind faith that an anonymous commission conducted its proceedings without bias, fairly evaluated the evidence, and reached conclusions fully supported by that evidence.

Perhaps it did. But how is anyone outside the proceedings supposed to make that judgment?

We’re talking about allegations carrying potentially devastating consequences for one of the world’s biggest football clubs. Yet the public is asked to accept the conclusions of unidentified decision-makers, reached through proceedings conducted behind closed doors, based on evidence that remains concealed.

And we’re supposed to regard this as a triumph of transparency and fairness?

Rather than wait for City—which maintains that the decision is factually and legally incorrect—to complete its appeal, the media and punditry, including former players associated with the Incumbent Four, are demanding immediate and severe punishment.

Many have spent years treating allegations as established facts. Now they treat a decision still subject to appeal as the final word.

This is a complete mockery of due process and fundamental fairness.

Even if City ultimately prevails, it will already have been punished in the court of public opinion. Years of reputational damage, attacks on the legitimacy of its accomplishments, and efforts to discredit the Club cannot simply be undone by a successful appeal.

And consider the broader picture.

A League historically dominated by a handful of established clubs adopts financial regulations that substantially favor those incumbents. Its chief executive, appointed through a process reportedly influenced by some of those same clubs, oversees an investigation into the challenger that broke their dominance. Charges arrive during that challenger’s greatest season. An anonymous commission, constituted under a disciplinary structure connected to the League, ultimately issues a guilty verdict based on evidence the public cannot examine.

Meanwhile, a partisan media and punditry demands that the Club be punished before the appeals process has run its course.

How could anyone reasonably expect City supporters not to question this process?

So, for those wondering why Manchester City supporters are sticking together, defending their Club, and refusing to accept the prevailing narrative, there’s your answer.

We’re entitled to demand transparency. We’re entitled to question whether the process has been fair. And we’re entitled to defend our Club against those who decided long ago what they wanted the outcome to be.

We will not apologize for any of that.

And we certainly won’t play the sad clowns that this deluded circus demands.

However, the Beeb are stating that Burnham had two Hospitality meals at the Etihad . FFS ! one might expect the Mayor of Greater Manchester to be given lunch on Match day if invited to the Stadium.

Geez I have had Hospitality at the Etihad with owners of Professional Swiss Ice Hockey clubs and Swiss Bankers. Yes even Swiss Bankers and all legit !

what is wrong with these people ( reporters etc).

Well as we all know its a hate driven agenda to try and smear us as much as they can, and to try and influence a negative outcome for us on this appeal. The whole lot of the haters making as much noise as they can. Ultimately they want us gone so they can reinstate the old order.
Imagine if we actually did something serious.

The press haven't had much to throw at Burnham politics wise so far so probably licking their lips at this opportunity to smear him.

Like you say it's hardly headline news for the Mayor of Manchester to attend a football match as a guest of a Manchester football club!

I think they are licking their lips at the opportunity to paint City more and more as the evil mother of all corruption, rather than throwing shit at Burnham.
If the PM had praised the Glazers for opening a discotheque in a dismantled factory, you can bet the press would have hyped him for nomination to the Nobel prize.

This has been posted on the OSC WhatsApp group - hope it's accurate!

An insight into City’s legal strategy on 114.

City have recently recruited Mark Howard described as a “super silk” a term used for a highly distinguished King’s Counsel (KC). He joins a legal team that includes Lord David Pannick KC, who has led City’s defence in the long-running case.

What follows is where the legal battle appears to stand between City, Etihad, and the Premier League following the Independent Commission’s verdict.

1. The Snook Trap: How the PL Committed a Massive Legal Error
Under English law (Snook precedent), to declare a contract a "sham," you have to prove both parties intended to deceive. The PL’s three KCs found City guilty of fraud via "adverse inferences" because City refused to turn over Etihad’s books. But here’s the catch: the PL never once interviewed Etihad or audited their banking records. They effectively shifted the burden of proof to City to prove a negative, which is legal quicksand in a real court.

1. Why Pannick Left Etihad Out of the Initial Tribunal
It looks like a deliberate tactical play by Lord Pannick KC.
By keeping Etihad as a "non-party," the PL’s tribunal made definitive findings of corporate fraud against a multi-billion-dollar global airline without ever giving them a Right to Reply (Audi alteram partem).
Bringing Etihad in earlier would have subjected them to massive, un-secure disclosure pools vulnerable to the PL's historic mainstream media leaks.

1. Etihad’s High Court "Nuclear Option"
Because Etihad is a separate corporate entity and not a PL member, they aren’t bound by football arbitration rules. Etihad’s threat to sue the PL for commercial defamation in the English High Court completely upends the case:
Strict Confidentiality Rings: In a real court, Etihad can safely hand over verified Abu Dhabi bank routing records and independent audits under judge-supervised security—completely shielded from leaks to rival clubs.
Destroying the "Spoofed Payments" Theory: Once a High Court judge validates that the sponsorship funds came entirely from Etihad’s own commercial revenue, the PL’s "sham contract" ruling is legally dead. City can then port that judicially stamped proof directly into the football appeal.

1. The "Prosecutorial" Panel and Fallback Findings
Did the three KCs act impartially? It’s highly debatable. By reverse-engineering the judgment with "backup charges" (like non-cooperation and acting in bad faith), they tried to make the verdict appeal-proof. But if Pannick proves the primary "sham" ruling was built on an unlawful legal process, the secondary fallback findings logically collapse with it.

1. CAS vs. The "Kangaroo" Football Tribunal
The PL deliberately ignored the 2020 CAS verdict (which cleared City of hiding equity funding) by exploiting the fact that the domestic PL rulebook has no statute of limitations. They used lower evidential standards to bypass the supreme court of world sport. Pannick will aggressively argue on appeal that ignoring a definitive CAS ruling on the exact same contracts constitutes an abuse of process.

1. Geopolitical Fallout: UAE Threats & Whitehall Frustration
It’s now spilling into international diplomacy. Emirati officials have reportedly warned the UK Government that the severity of the ruling directly threatens a £30 billion UK-UAE investment pipeline, clouding an upcoming London investment summit. UK officials are furious because they are facing massive economic pressure from a foreign state over a private sports tribunal that the government has zero constitutional power to interfere with.
The Bottom Line: Pannick is executing a brilliant multi-front counter-offensive. By stalling the compressed PL appeal timeline and letting Etihad loose in the High Court, he is forcing the Premier League to defend its leaked, circumstantial case in a real court of law where they have no safety net.

No idea, as I have said previously I don't do SM so can't open the actual conversation on X. The APT was the fight about Associated Party Transaction shit the PL tried to pull to re-value some of our sponsorship deals. No idea why that would have a bearing on what punishment the PL think they can get away with...
