He even has average games like tonight and still scored to rub their noses in it

I don't know, but he was a goal scoring midfielder. Only other one I could think of.

Neville: "and that is yaya toure doing what he wants. At the pace he wants"

Pretty much sums it up

I think it still sums him up quite nicely. Even when he's shit, it is basically what is happening.

Between him and Suarez for best player

He's the best player in the League - anyway - but the average knob-head player only judges him by how many forward-runs he does in a game

His best was 21 in 69-70. Generally in the high teens in our trophy winning years though.

That's Yaya, & imo that's how the manager should view him, not as someone you rely on to pick up runners or mark people; he will do that 'sometimes'.

Just let him play, & balance the team accordingly. He will then apprear helping in all areas of the pitch; 'at his own pace'.

That's how he needs to be played, it unfortunately means Navas has to start from the bench to allow it though, which I can live with - Silva also has to move out wider (well, he plays where he wants, but he will have Yaya in his central space a lot) which can cramp Dave's style a little.

after watching his 50 goals on the OS im trying to remember, where did he play when we first bought him in 2010? it looks like he played behind Tevez but in front of Barry and NDJ. it looks like he was played much higher up the pitch early on

It was performances like today that made me ask the question in the first place.
For a big guy he is very good at hiding sometimes.

I'm actually with KK on this. YaYa can be very frustrating to watch at times. We all know what abilities he processes. But in some games he just seems to lumber around and allows players to walk past him without a challenge. I sometimes feel he tries to conserve energy for the second half and then explode into life, but yesterday it didn't happen, and that's the frustrating bit. It's now when we need all our leaders to start putting their bodies on the line, and when you see the disappointment on Silva's face you want to see the same from everyone else.

But having said all that, 4pts from two difficult venues is exceptable and the same out come from mersyside will see us win the title

I's not hiding, it's because he's a great big unit & struggles to keep moving at the required pace without shagging himself out.

Within games, he takes periods where he jogs about & has a breather. He doesn't stop, but it is jogging & it's no use relying on him when he is in that phase. He finds energy for an attacking or defensive sprint, but then goes back to jogging again. He can do something important once, but then he can't do it again without a breather inbetween. If the oppo attacks through him at that point, we are in deep shit, he will go missing.

It's all about where you play him & how many games in short periods. We saw Mancini run him into the ground on many occasions (along with Barry) & Pellegrini needs to get on top of it more.

Use him to hurt the opposition, then rest him not just trundle him out. He was unfit for purpose in a holding role by half time yesterday. Pellegrini should have done something sooner & imo his lack of action cost us 2 points. Garcia would have dropped back & stopped Flamini when Yaya & Demic fell asleep.
