Cavani is a great player, he has showed a lot this season in the Champions League and Seria A, and now everyone wants him. How do you know he'd succeed at city at all?

Stop criticizing, City is first. Everyone scores, everyone messes up from time to time. It is on us to support our players and hopefully celebrate the title.

Sorry mate, he scores, but he doesn't turn up to the game more often than not. Ted above was saying that we need a player who will contribute to the game, not just stand at the back post to knock the ball in - UNLESS - Mancini starts playing with more emphasis on the flanks, which I believe he should do regardless of Dzeko playing or not.

Mario for me is the same, too little influence across the whole game. We can't afford for Aguero to be injured or be off his game, because we know that it is very likely that neither Dzeko or Mario WILL definately step upto the plate. Usually with Mario due to stupidity, but with Dzeko its down to whether he chooses to do the hard yards and whether he keeps his composure to lay the ball off to a colleague rather than the oppositions midfield.

Yes, it is harsh, but City are in a position now where they can be cocky and demand the very very best. If Mancini chooses not to change his approach, then Dzeko has to adapt otherwise he will be replaced with someone who will put the work in, and who can be relied on to make a simple pass and not go missing for games at a time.

Dendza mate give up it does not matter how many goals hes score, neither the City on the first place table because these three attackers destroyed all the defense, simply whatever individuals Edin has even done a very good and assists this the blitzkrieg against Arsenal. He will go in the summer because ,Manchini put on the bench more and more it is a sign that will probably come Lavezzi or Cavani.Lets hope for a title, Edin will be good wherever he go, I'm sure.

He is on the bench because he doesnt contribute to the overall team's play when he plays. How many fucking people do you ned to tell you this before you understand. This isnt a "get at Dzeko" thread, it is a constructive discussion about what he needs to do to stay here - and you will note I said the same about Balotelli.

I love the guy, and really want him to do well. I had a bet with the guy next to me who slagged him off all last season that he would bag 15 before xmas - I lost, but only because he went seriously off the boil over before xmas (and just after) and Mancini quite rightly didn't play him.

Look at it this way, our owners have a brief to get City to the level of Real Madrid and Barcelona eventually. We have a good squad of players now, and it will be tweaked until we get there - ask yourself, where would Dzeko fit in at either of those clubs?

He just is not technically good enough for either, and not committed enough on the pitch for Barcelona where everyone works their nuts off for each other. If that is where we want to go, and he doesn't improve, he will go, you are absolutely right.

City will move on, we may sign Cavani/Lavezzi but one bonus to that will be that we won't be inundated by whiny fucking argentinian fanboys

Actually, on that level, I'd prefer that he didn't play for City. When he played for Wolfsburg, I learned a lot about the Bundesliga, and became a fan of German football because of it. Nowadays, I can't talk about football with a Bosnian, being a City fan, without Dzeko being shoved down my throat left, right, and centre.

I love watching football in general with Bosnians (one of the most enjoyable non-fan times of my life was watching the 2008-09 playoffs with a group of friends in a bar in Visoko), but now Dzeko has become involved with the team I love, it's kind of spoiled it, because 90% of people go into overkill with hero-worshiping.

And yes, people do have a problem with it. It's not a hate of foreign fans or anything, but we've always been used to fans of 'underdogs' coming to support us- basically Northern Europeans, the odd person from random countries, and, yes, even Bosnia (go onto Doncaster's main fan site, and there are 3 or 4 Bosnians on there, the same as almost every other Football League club, because of the post-war donations, and people becoming fans of clubs whose shirts they randomly received- an affinity that is something you wouldn't see anywhere else), that's the way football fans are in England. The one thing we've never been welcoming to is 'fairweather fans' - basically those that come for a player or manager, and leave as soon as they go. On this forum, we've had it with everyone from a crazy Swedish guy who was a fan of Sven Goran Ericsson, to hundreds of Saudis when one of their players had a trial with us. In all honesty, I thought Bosnians were better than that.

For crying out loud can we lock this thread now please!?!?! It's becoming embarrassing.

BiB summed it up very well up above. Imspartacus made some great points, trying to have a discussion but was shot down. Ted made it clear that pretty much no one hates Dzeko, but he can work harder sometimes (but also we don't always play to his strengths).

But EVERY time, one of his fan club goes mental because we're not all in agreement that Dzeko is the greatest player in the world and he would single-handedly win us the league if we played him every week. It's boring. Go and set up a Dzeko forum if that's all you want to discuss. If you want to have a reasonable debate, please do, that's the purpose of the board, and it's great getting opinions from people all around the world. But don't start crying every time someone doesn't say they're in love with Dzeko.

Well we fucled that up in Lisbon tonight...I blame Mancini....He should have played Edin up front.

Edin would have been able to hold the ball up, keep possession for us and he'd have troubled their defence far more than whoever our striker was.

Who was it....did we have one?

In fairness, there were a few poor performances tonight but Dzeko's was atrocious. He never offered them a problem.

...and to Palus, That is why so many criticise Dzeko, he may score regularly but he offers so little else to the team and if he fails to score, his output is negative. Good goalscorer but a poor player.

He wasn’t alone in being shite tonight but it happens all to often IMO with him. If we want to succeed at a higher level than he either steps his game up 100% or we replace. For instance Silva was poor today but nine times out of ten he delivers. Dzeko at times doesn’t seem interested or acts like a complete soft arse, I just can’t work him out. I know a strikers job is about scoring but they also need a work ethic to go with that and press from the front. Was Ian Rush not once described as Liverpool’s best defender and we know how successful a team he played in.

If you showed someone a video of Dzeko that had never seen him play and first did the Spurs game and then tonight’s they would never ever believe that they were the same player. That display against Spurs was one of the best individual performances I have seen from a blue, he terrorised Spurs and worked like a Trojan, what went wrong??
