That statement means you're being over the top...it's like when racists say...i'm not being racist but...

I don't see how. anyway you guys obviously have your own opinions and while some will argue his case reasonably (NQDP) I'm not in the mood for the others who just throw shite on this site this morning so I think I'll drop out of this one.

Last thing I will say is that had it being Michael Brown who was in DeJ's role last night and Silva bein in the spanish team you guys wouldn't be looking at this with blue tinted glasses.

Look mate, your the one who has come onto the site and thrown shite around. Your calling one of our best players a discrace to football because he mistimed a tackle. Then start comparing him to somebody like Roy fucking Keane.

You then get a couple of responses telling you how stupid you are coming across and you back track and make out like you are wanting to have a reasonable discussion about it.

And regarding your ridiculous Michael Brown comment. Any international team with Michael Brown playing in it would never in a million years reach the world cup final. It's like saying if Mike Tyson was playing last night and bit somones ear off we'd all agree with you!

How did I back track, I still have stuck by my opinions. Imho DeJong was a disgrace to football last night and not much better against any of the strong teams thoughout the WC. You obviously aren't reading my posts cause you still think its over 1 tackle when I clearly stated its cause he repeatedly keep going in with dirty tackles and cynical fouling.

I said what I said and yes we can have a reasonable discussion, but comments like do you work for the daily mail aren't exactly part of it.

It didn't have to be a world cup final, had michael Brown spent a Sunday in the prem doing that to Tevez you would all be crying so don't deny it (i've seen it on here over less)

he missed timed (admitedly about a week late) one tackle which was horribley high, but his tackling for the rest of the game was decent, hard but fair(that's why he didn't get booked again) - you have completely over reacted

It was a disgraceful challenge, but he's a dirty player, and was only following orders (I know that's what Nazi war criminals say before anyone points it out) - does a bad tackle necessarily make the guy a disgrace to football? II don't think so. Maybe it's easier to see him as a thug when he's in orange. Obviously he shoulda gone, and a ref without an agenda would have sent him off.

Anyway, he was nowhere near as dirty as van Bommel throughout the tourno, that guy was purely cynical in every game I saw him in, a negative, vindictive, nasty piece of work, who unfortunately for everyone he plays against, is built like he was created by evil scientists, to hurt people.

1. The thread is an over reaction.

2. It was a daft tackle , ( what was he thinking of with his foot that high anyway ?). I don't think he used 'malicious intent' though.

3. He could have reduced the injury to Alonso but forced his foot into Alonsos rib cage), which is where i'm annoyed with him.

4. what signal does that send to Mancini ? ie Is this guy uncontrollable ?.

5. I find Van Bommel to be a slimeball , oh and Van Persie too by the way ! De Jong on the whole is just a hard tackler.

I would like you to be the Van Bommel of Mancityfans.net. FC. I won't some nice head height challenges and alot of those niggly fouls that disrupte the other teams ebb and flow!!

Thanks

I was always willing to forgive his lack of tech ability for the shift he puts in and the fact he gives 100% but at the WC I was a whole new side of him. A dirty, dangerous disgrace of a player who should of bein charged with assault in this tournament. I really hope its Toure and Barry in midfield next year (can't believe i said Barry) but I don't think I can ever get behind him again. A complete and utter wanker of Keane like proportions

??? give over - Holland had to close the Spanish MF down and de jong is one of the best to do that - totally working to orders - I call that professional

Ok - yes - not pretty - Ok not what you hope for - but it was the WC final and if Robben had done his bit they would have won it

I do not like the karate kick - and I really think that looked worse than was intended - but the rest of the play - well World Class at what he does IMO - wish we had more players with his work rate and professionalism - THE TACTICS ARE SET BY THE MANAGER!!!! and there were too many players (Kuyt putting the foot in at LB for instance) - so why get down on him?

If he was doing the job he was sent out to do then he was doing it very badly. Unless Van Marwijk told him he wanted him to get sent off before half time? Stupid tackles that get you sent off are NOT good football, EVER period

in all honesty i dont think Nige did this on purpose , i really dont .... who the fuck would in the world cup final would tackle someone with so much venom - i think Howard webb got this spot on with a yellow , was more of a "you dick watch what your doing" warning.

De Yong is class and no thug .

I don't think he meant to kick him like that and I don't think he is a disgrace to football.

He is, however, a pretty unremarkable one-dimensional player. Modern day players like Essien, Cambiasso and Alonso himself can 'do a job' like de Jong does, but they also offer so much more.

I agree

He didn't do the foul on purpose. He just was going for ball with his foot instead of his head.

But please don't call De Jong class - it's an insult to genuinely class players out there.

De Jong is pretty much a headless chicken who is there to be bull terrier in the middle of pitch. I love his spirit but he has such limited footballing ability it's embarrassing.

Being a defensive midfielder doesn't mean you need to be a thug nor be completely unable to engage in attacking play. De Jong should be a bench player at best for us next season.

Agreed, Nigel went even higher up in my estimations after that tackle. He'd been told to hit 'em hard and you can't get much harder than that.

God I wish Keane was still playing, Nigel would've eat him alive; literally!
