I don't think I have ever seen a player like Tevez who has consistently performed at the of the margin of his physical capabilities. Time and time again he has scored goals that if he were a fraction later to connect to the ball the opportunity would be missed. This is not luck, but I can't see how he can keep it up. Tevez seems to understand his own body and probably knows he has perhaps one or two years left at the top (less with injuries). Remember back to when he just signed and recovering from injury and not at peak fitness. He looked very ordinary then and i expect his play will come to resemble that standard when the wear and tear on his body catches up.

Very pacey, very direct and good in the final third.
Wouldn't be too hard to get either.

This. I also think N'zogbia would be a good move.

Me too. I can't believe he's still only 24!

Believe me, we don't want him; he's not the striker he was last season anymore. He's faded quickly, also due to some injuries he has had this season.

I think we should get as much for him as liverpool did for torres - more so in fact as he is a much better player

Definitely, if we could get two pacey wingers who are good at dribbling it would improve us so much. N'zogbia, Jarvis, maybe even Ashley Young.

I would like a system centred around getting the best out of Silva, which means moving him into the middle.

Left footed winger on the left and a right on the right. Radical concept I know, and then I think we'll see better from Dzeko and Balo.

Tevez as much as I consider him one of the best strikers in the world I think would be marginalized in that setup and I think getting the best out of Silva means not getting the best from Tevez.

@ Slim,

I don't see a lot wrong with Silva's positioning now. He tends to play a pretty free role as it is and usually drifts into the middle or into space where he can work his magic. My problem with Silva is that he seems hard wired to pass. It seems his usual first thought even when he is getting into the box and has space to shoot. Last night he nearly scored and I would love to see him try it more. We need him to up his scoring tally.

If we are to play with 2 effective wide men (which I would love), don't you think we will have to operate with more than 1 lone striker to get on the end of those crosses?

That Nzogbia is a really good player, i rate him highly, not too sure about Jarvis .

I see us as too narrow, especially with Silva lining up on the left but never staying there, Johnson as a left footer on the right will drift into the channels move than hug the touchline and we are looking exceedingly narrow in attack. Giving us wide attacking forwards like Johnson(ON THE FUCKING LEFT) and Neymar/Sanchez will stretch the defence and force fullbacks wide and centrehalves to move across into the channels, allowing Silva more room and time in the middle of the park to thread needles and destroy teams.

... And the more stretched the opposition's back four is (by our width), the more holes Silva will be able to find to exploit.

Kolarov is supposed to supply some width when Silva is nominally on the left but he's another one that can drift inside quite a bit so we go for long periods of the game either lopsided or as Slim mentioned too narrow.

I'd like to see us get (or promote from the EDS) a second Silva in the summer, a young up and coming one who can be benched for the important games but used when resting/rotating Dave, more importantly than that we really need Jarvis or someone like him, to either play as a right sided AJ or to swap with AJ as a pair of conventional wingers. (and we need like for like replacements for anyone leaving in the summer)

Not necessarily; if the cross comes from the right, for exmple, the left winger would cut inside into the box to add a threat and, should the ball, get to him, have a pop at goal; the same thing should be done by the central midfielders, like Yaya.

And this system would enable us to play Silva in the middle in a free role along with two wingers, so maximum width and hopefully delivery into the box

I don't really know enough about our EDS lads to be able to tell who is looking promising. Bob has some of them training with the first team from time to time though so he'll know where they're at.

Sorry to bring this back up but it pisses me off that they can run totally unfounded stories, then when it's refuted, run another story actually countering their original one; if that makes sense? Where's the part where it says - 'Sorry, but we got it wrong' or 'Fuck, we lied'?

From Sky Sports:
Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti insists his club have not held any talks over a potential swoop for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez in the summer.

The Argentinian hitman was reported to have met with Inter officials during a recent trip to Italy, but Moratti claims there has been no contact between his club and the 27-year-old.

When asked about Tevez's recent trip to Milan, Moratti said on Inter's official website: "I saw that on TV but there is no connection at all with us."

Tevez has three years remaining on his contract at Eastlands but there is growing speculation he will leave this summer, having made a transfer request in December before later withdrawing it.

Inter's Serie A rivals Juventus are also reportedly chasing the signature of the Argentina international, who arrived at City from local rivals Manchester United in 2009.

Blues manager Roberto Mancini said last week the club will wait until the end of the season before discussing Tevez's future.

The striker is in a race against time to recover from a hamstring injury before the end of the campaign, with City's FA Cup final against Stoke at Wembley looming this month.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

I love the fact that they seem to have forgotten it was them that reported it.
....and the way, in the middle of their denial, they slip in the next bit of speculation about Juventus...

Can't wait til they come up with the piece to deny that Juve are after him...next week maybe?
