Kompany for me, does not matter how many you score if your defense is leaking like a sink.

Even the greatest players in the world dont go a full season without the odd poor or even average games, Nigel DeJong has just become the exception to that rule. He has been an absolute rock, his intelligent selfless play may not have gotten the recognition it deserves from the media, however there is not a true blue alive who doesnt know how important he is to our past, present and future.

DeJong had such a difficult job in shaking off the reputation gained in just seconds of the world cup final, I understand he has not managed this yet, however I believe this is due to media ignorance leading to the lack of public knowledge. We know he is not just an important part of our side but he is an impeccable figure in the future of world football, DeJong is the type of player who supports the platform upon which stars like tevez shine... Legend already!!

I wonder how he is supposed to shake it off when idiots that post about ignorance have it as their avatar.

Oh, and Stuart Holden and Hatem Ben Arfa might debate it was 'just a few seconds'.

Vincent, just look at our defensive record to see why. Only second to Chelski.

Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

My vote goes to Vinnie. For me, i think this season he became the most valuable defender in the league and we all seen what a leader he can be when he is needed.
But, i must say for me the most incredible surprise of the season was Lescott. After Kolo got suspended, i feared the worst, but Lesco was Huge, at the same level as Vinnie and i felt safe when he was back. If he played as regular the whole season, he would have been my pick.

After a lot of thought I have gone for De Jong. Reason being I think he has become the one player that we can least do without, who's absence has the biggest negative impact and for whom we have no replacement.

Tevez is out and Balotelli stepped in and did a reasonable job - FA Cup semi the highlight
Silva is out and a combination of Toure, AJ and Balotelli can bring the creativity. Silva does run De Jong a close second in player who's absence is most keenly felt.
Kompany. Again Kolo and Lescott or even Boyata and Lescott or Richards and Lescott can fill in for a few games. Again not ideal but we could muddle through.
Hart. Given is a more than able deputy.

I will confess that at season start I thought De Jong would be least likely to thrive under Mancini given his preference for versatile players. What I didn't except was De Jong to redefine his role and performance to something akin to an art form not to mention his passing has become more positive and he even scores goals now.

De Jong is the one vital cog in the machine which all the other parts depend on.

Vinnie K for me. Close one with De Jong and Tevez but definitely Vinnie.
He exudes coolness, calmness and confidence. He walks like a man who means business with the air of a bloke packing the sort of tackle you would expect to see dangling between the hind legs of the Grand National Winner.

Can anyone produce a piccy of that Mannekin Pis statue in Brussels (most famous Belgium statue of little boy weeing) and superimpose Vinnie's face on it with him pissing on Old Trafford?? Someone must be able to do it??

I love what he did because of who he did it too.

My comment on ignorance is to those who tar him with the brush that he is a dirty player, he is not, he is hard, high tempo and never backs down, that is a positive, he is not a dirty player.

People saw the one incident, listened to the media and assumed.

However we know that DeJong is a legend!!
