I suggest that there have been many of these types of letters written to various media outlets and they have taken notice, but until the club start taking a harder line then things won't change too much. The media, as most companies, are driven by sales and the way they've got those sales has been to support the old Sky 4 because that's where their sales lie. If they can write a story about the other teams in a negative way, those same people will buy it just the same as it still gives them a sense of empowerment.
Then you take the writers allegiances into account, who themselves want to be empowered, then you get a media that just cannot bring themselves to report anything without giving it a negative slant. An event like ours was a milestone that should have been reported just as it was, especially in the North West, allowing those to read about it and enjoy the event again in words and pictures, bringing back the emotions of the day and allowing those who could not attend a fully inclusive look and feel into what the day was all about - Us.
The biggest shame was the inane diatribe that was spouted from our nearest and dearest media outlets, who should have been promoting the positive imagine of a NW club who had turned the corner and put their fans (local people) at the heart of all things that had been achieved.
Shame on you all, you don't deserve a penny off me, or any sort of remuneration for what can only be considered an attack on the people you try to serve.
